This new Apple iPad advert has been getting extreme backlash:
And to be honest I agree...
Although this has been Apple's approach for a long time it is particularly soul destroying to watch all the beautiful things in life that surround our dynamic human experience be destroyed and crushed into an iPad.
Seems concerning that this idea is glorified and then used as a way to sell a piece of tech...
What are your thoughts???

Sad day for Apple and it’s launch of the new iPad Pro model and revamp of the range.
I totally agree that Apple lost its way and should go back to its core roots: solving consumer problems and purpose a matrix of 2x2 : Consumer, pro, laptop and desktop, then add a third line for iPad, one model for consumers one model for the pro.
CNET video resonates in me, it minds me of my time in Apple, I wish to be part again of the company to push as product marketing this simple vision….
It is going to be difficult as iPhones drive most of Apple’s bottom line but the reality for the iPhone should be the same: 2-3 models, 1 for pro, one for consumers.
Simple, effective, profitable.

🔍 Let's Analyze: Apple's Latest iPad Commercial! 🔍
This week, Apple sparked intense debate with their latest iPad commercial, prompting us to consider two distinct perspectives:
1. 🚀 Embracing Innovation: Apple is revolutionizing the creative landscape by "crushing" a plethora of creative tools into the newest iPad. This forward-thinking approach empowers users with unparalleled versatility and efficiency, propelling creativity to new heights! 🌟💡
2. ⚖️ Balancing Tradition: On the flip side, some voices caution that Apple's emphasis on digital innovation may inadvertently overshadow traditional creativity tools. Are we at risk of neglecting time-honored methods and tools in favor of digital convenience? Let's weigh the pros and cons. 🤔💭

With precious few seconds to tell a story, metaphors are incredibly important in ads. But metaphors can be unintentional.
Apple's intended metaphor: We've squeezing lots of creativity into a thin device.
Apple's accidental metaphor: We're crushing creative expression.

As a former French horn player, Apple's newest iPad Pro commercial showcasing a hydraulic press crushing instruments and music equipment makes me very sad.
The purpose of the commercial is not only to showcase how thin the latest iPad Pro is (it is Apple's slimmest product ever at 5.3 mm), but more importantly hints at AI features built into the iPad's new Logic Pro app, including an AI-driven backing band.
Part of the magic of creating art are human's inherent flaws and the painstaking quest of trying to achieve perfection, but never quite reaching it. I believe there is plenty of room for AI in the creative process, this blatant "crushing" of what Apple considers old-fashioned and analog seems dehumanizing to me.
Props to Apple for also highlighting that the new iPad Pro now has a horizontal front-facing camera and a stylus hover menu during the keynote presentation, features that Samsung tablets have had for the better part of a decade.
In the end though, it is undeniable that the new iPad Pro is a technological tour de force, and a true breakthrough in terms of mobile computing and screen technology. Hats off to Apple, mostly :)
How do you feel about the new iPad ad from Apple..?
I just saw the new iPad ad and, to my mind, it's an awkward, #brand miss-step in that they've taken two reasonable ideas that together add up to a negative:
1) that the iPad is the distillation of all these amazing things in one extremely portable package and,
2) that people like to see things blended, chopped, blown-up etc in a very real and practical way – there are dozens of YouTube channels built on this premise.
However, the YouTube channels are destroying indiscriminate objects to see what it looks like. Whereas Apple's ad is apparently not about the objects but what they represent – the ideology of creativity – and suggesting that the iPad crushes it.
It's a metaphor of course. However, done practically it feels wrong.
Perhaps this is an example of where Computer Generated Imagery would her been a better alternative. Or perhaps if they'd flipped the idea on it's head and gone for the Mary Poppin's "infinity" beg approach.
I've use an iPad almost every day since I bought my first in 2011. And while I take photographs, listen to albums, sketch and paint, or even make music on it, it in no way replaces my record collection, cameras, pens and paper or guitars.
If anything the ad reminds me that I perhaps rely on technology too much... guilty almost, that my activities are at times the equivalent of the ad... crushing the more soulful approach to "making".
To my mind, making your customers feel like that is no way to sell a product.
What do you think?

An uncharacteristic misstep by Apple that offers a valuable lesson.
I'm an Apple fan, I'm writing this in a cafe on my MacBook Air, with a hotspot from my iPhone so this pains me somewhat. However as they say, we learn more form our failures than our successes.
Take a look at their iPad Pro ad 👇
What's the overriding feeling you're left with?
It reminds me of the stress and pressure of life.
Wasn't Apple suppose to relieve us of that?
The marketing lesson
▫ Surround your product with positivity and stay on the consumer benefit
▫ Avoid analogies that vampire the product
▫ Visuals are more powerful and influential than words
▫ Test your creative
