Trends in the UK Global Talent Visa 🌟 In this post I want to reflect on recent statistics and our experience related to the Global Talent visas in the UK. Although my company ready-visa.com contributed to a small amount of these successful cases, as an advocate of the philosophy "world without borders", I am glad to observe such a trend. 📈 From Jan 2020 to Aug 2021: 3,120 GTVs (71% approved), Source: Global Talent Evaluation Wave 1 Report 📈 From September 2021 to September 2022: 2,560 GTVs, Source: UK Immigration Statistics 📈 From Sept 2022 to Sept 2023: 58% rise (+1,492) in ‘Global Talent’ visas to 4,046 grants Source: UK Immigration System Statistics I will share the links to the sources on my comments This trend is a positive indicator, especially since the cap on GTVs was removed in Feb 2020. Based on our work experience, we observe that requirements for applicants' public profiles and evidence are becoming increasingly stringent. However, despite these higher standards, the number of successful applications continues to grow annually. Now it is a good time to consider applying for the Global Talent Visa, given this trend. It has been a while since I posted on #LinkedIn – but whilst I’ve been quieter, #immigration hasn’t! I wanted to share the most recent updates that I have been talking to my clients about: 🔵 TSMIT Increase: From 1 July 2024 the Temporary Skills Migration Income Threshold will increase from $70,000 to $73,150 – this will impact new nominations lodged from 1 July 2024 (note: no impact on applications already approved or lodged prior to this date) 🔵 Visa Hopping: From 1 July 2024 visitor visa holders (subclass 600, subclass 601 (ETA) and subclass 651 (eVisitor)) won’t be able to apply for a Student visa from inside Australia. Individuals who hold these visa types and wish to apply for a Student visa will need to apply from outside Australia 🔵 Subclass 482 (TSS) Eligibility Change: From 23 November 2024 the work experience requirement for the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) visa will be decreased from 2 years to 1 year - a huge impact for those more recent graduates! 🔵 Work and Holiday Ballots: From 2024-25 the government will introduce a visa ballot process for the capped Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa program for applicants from China, Vietnam and India - stay tuned for updates on this one 🔵 UK Passport Holders: From 1 July 2024 individuals who hold a UK passport as a British citizen or British national (overseas) no longer need to undertake ‘specified subclass 417 work’ in order to obtain a second or third Working Holiday visa 🔵 Migration Forecasts: Net overseas migration is forecast to decrease from 528,000 in 2022–23 to 260,000 in 2024–25. Levels for the permanent migration program set at 185,000 places with 132,200 (70%) places allocated to the Skilled stream 🔵 A New Visa: The Government will introduce a new National Innovation visa in late 2024 to attract exceptionally talented migrants and replace the Global Talent visa and the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) 🔵 End of BIIP: The Business Innovation and Investment visa program (BIIP) will cease from July 2024, with refunds of the visa application charge provided from September 2024 for those who wish to withdraw their BIIP application There is never a quiet moment in the world of immigration.
