How not to partner with companies. Had an experience this week that I had to share 😫 As you may be aware, we are really leaning into our partner ecosystem at Sendspark which has meant building out a number of different tech integrations. As part of these partnerships, we create integration pages and resources which help our customers understand how our tools work together. Which means we need access to these tools to update and walk customers through how they work together. We were working on doing this for one of our integration partners yesterday and realized that our partner account had been blocked. So I reached out to the partner team, who told me that all partners now had to buy full licenses for their product, and it was going to cost us $10k for the privilege of partnering with them. Why do companies do this? It’s not just hurting your partners financially but it’s also hurting the experience for your customers. It’s crazy to me that these large “mature” companies still don’t lead with a partner first attitude! 🤷♂️😢 #partnerships #ecosystemfirst

Reflecting on my experience as a delegate providing content and on site coverage at Tech Field Days in 2024, I can’t help but feel grateful for being part of such a dynamic and engaging community. The professionalism and support from the entire TFD team—Stephen Foskett, Matt Garvin, Rachael Fritz, Andrew Blackburn, and Alastair Cooke—truly blew me away. They know how to bring the best out of everyone, ensuring the experience is both educational and enjoyable. The App Dev Field Day at Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) #KubeCon last month was the perfect cherry on top of this year’s Field Days, leaving me pumped for what 2025 has in store. The event brought together so many innovative sponsors, each offering unique insights and solutions in the AppDev space. The collaborative energy among the tech analysts/experts (fellow delegates) was second to none—we shared ideas, debated technologies, and learned from one another’s experiences as the '𝑣𝑜𝑖𝑐𝑒 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑢𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑟.' One of the standout moments was SOUTHWORKS’ session, where Johnny Halife walked us through their #multicloud migrations and #SaaS transformation work. Their approach wasn’t just technically impressive; it was the kind of strategic thinking we need to thrive in today’s cloud landscape. And who knew Field Days for grown-ups could be so much fun—no buddy system required! (Although, I did miss someone to hold my hand during those tricky cloud debates.) As we close out 2024, I can’t wait to see where Tech Field Days go next. Just look at the growing number of users/organizations on GitHub. When a company creates a GitHub account, it indicates they're using code either for their internal operations or as part of their product offerings. GitHub continues to grow QOQ, attracting new businesses and organizations of all sizes.
