Very simple yet very important message delivered in the video that we need to be relentlessly driving in each and every initiative/ project. We have no choice but to shift from linear to circular economy. Good educational video that need to be shared in schools as well so we develop early literacy and habits
If only concepts were as simple to operationalise as they are to describe in words. This truth applies to almost everything in life, and for me, especially, it applies to the circular economy. Perhaps the most pressing need as we address critical environmental issues. Put simply, we need to move from Point A “take, make, dispose” to Point B “a circular economy”. A circular economy is not just reduce, reuse and recycle – we need to eliminate waste and pollution, circulate products and materials, and regenerate nature. So between Points A and B lie enormous complex systems, practices, and countless crossroads and byways, with challenges at every turn. The aim is simple, the pathway to achieving it is not. Our work at the Alliance to End Plastic Waste means that we are keenly aware of this. We never oversimplify that which is complex. But it also means that no matter how many turns and U-turns are involved, we keep our eye on the objective. It makes navigating the complex much less daunting. And at the end of the day, I do believe this: that when an objective can be explained simply, it is achievable. #CircularEconomy #EndPlasticWaste #Collaboration #CatalysingImpact #SolutionsForChange

A week ago today, we launched the 2023 Progress Report for the Alliance to End Plastic Waste. Witnessing first-hand the immense work that has gone into this report—and the very promising results—has been an honour. And yet our efforts have not slowed since. Tomorrow we don't want to say why didn't we start sooner, instead we want us all to imagine how far we can go together. We continue to push forward toward our collective goal of achieving plastic circularity and eliminating plastic waste in the environment through systems change. Today it's reducing 118,580 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste, and improving the quality of lives for close to 8,000 informal waste workers with income boosts, sanitary and safe working conditions and/or social benefits; tomorrow we go must only go higher and we must do even better. Stay connected with the Alliance to keep up with our progress. Read our report to discover the good work we're doing across the globe, and if you're impassioned about making a difference, join us in this crucial mission. There's only one earth. #EndPlasticWaste #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #PlasticCircularity
In 2023, we made important progress in advancing plastic circularity through global collaborations aimed at systemic change. Our latest Progress Report highlights our runway, from piloting and scaling innovative plastic waste management solutions to creating impact beyond project outcomes. This is only the beginning. Together — and only together — can we drive transformative change across sectors and borders to make headway towards plastic circularity. Proud to share we published our 2023 Progress Report - Advancing Circularity: Solutions for Change. The report demonstrates what can be achieved through collaboration to address the complex issue of plastic waste. Grateful for the support of our members, collaboration with our numerous partners and the hard work of my incredible colleagues! It has been incredibly rewarding to have played a key role in developing our impact metrics framework, which now underpins our reporting. I believe our strengthened ability to convey our impact - with independently assured data - is a crucial step in demonstrating tangible progress and encouraging broader collaboration. And we are far from done - building a circular economy for plastics is a long game and requires buy-in from all parts of the ecosystem. But for now, let us celebrate this milestone. Link to the report below. #CircularEconomy #SolutionsForChange

Here in Mitsui Chemicals Group, we take concerted effort in developing our #VISION2030 long-term business plan, which sets out the direction for business changes to contribute to a sustainable society. One of the direction is to support the society to transit to a circular economy for plastics. How do we keep plastics out of the environment? By advancing a circular economy for plastics and transforming the way they are designed, used and recycled. Plastic circularity is only possible through collaboration across the value chain, and as a member of the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, we are glad for the role of the Alliance and its network in building the momentum towards systems change. Read the Alliance’s Progress Report 2023 – Advancing Circularity: Solutions for Change and learn about the impact that is possible when we work together.
