⚠️Warning: Contains Microplastics. Over 170 leading environmental groups have filed a legal petition urging the Environmental Protection Agency to start monitoring microplastics in drinking water by 2026 under the Safe Drinking Water Act. Why it matters: 🧪 Microplastics, found everywhere from Mount Everest to the deep ocean, are linked to serious health risks like cancer, hormone disruption, and heart disease. 💧 Independent tests reveal microplastics in nearly all drinking water, with the average person ingesting 4,000 particles a year. California is already leading the way as it becomes the first state to start monitoring for microplastics. With growing awareness of the harmful impacts of these particles, stronger regulations are essential to safeguard public health and the environment. Hot off the press.🔥 Thank you Sustainable Times for featuring Teysha and our natural solution to replace plastic.
A Sweet Solution for Plastic Pollution 🍯👇 Teysha Technologies’AggiePol, have developed a sweet solution to plastic pollution… literally. Spearheaded by researchers Dr. Karen Wooley and Dr. Ashlee Jahnke at Texas A&M University, this technology transforms natural waste materials into biodegradable plastics by deriving glucose. This Christmas, Quality Street is going plastic-free! 🌱🎄 Nestlé is ditching plastic for an all-paper tub in a move to cut CO2 emissions. Partnering with Smurfit Westrock, the first-of-its-kind paper-based tub is hitting supermarket shelves, taking sustainability to the next level. 🍫 Since 2022, over 2 billion wrappers have been diverted from landfills as Quality Street moved to using paper wrappers. Now, both the tub and wrappers can go into household recycling. Additionally, the redesign will fit more boxes per pallet, which will reduce the number of trucks on the road creating a lower carbon footprint. Let’s celebrate greener holidays! 🌍 Source: https://lnkd.in/gByuq4Yy #Sustainability #Bioplastics #GreenChristmas #QualityStreet

Great to have attended the Coast Summit last week! 🌱✨ The event brought together industry leaders dedicated to tackling climate challenges and advancing sustainable solutions. A highlight for us was the Seaweed Stories panel with Michael Long from A New Earth Project, Emy Kane from Lonely Whale, Julia Marsh from Sway and Bruce Moore from Florence Marine X. It's brilliant to see such inspiring leaders work to prevent plastic pollution in our oceans. 📸: A New Earth Project #CoastSummit #Sustainability #Innovation

#COP29 delivered some progress, but there’s far more to be done.🌱🌍 At the 2024 United Nations Climate Change Conference, world leaders, innovators, and activists came together to tackle environmental challenges including plastic pollution. The major outcome from the talks were leaders agreeing to the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG), pledging to contribute at least $300 billion annually to the global fight against climate change. While this outcome is a step in the right direction, many have called the funds inefficient and there is still a long journey ahead to deliver effective climate action and transition away from fossil fuel plastics. We hope to see more ambition for change at this week’s UN Global Plastics Treaty negotiations in Busan, Korea. Stay tuned for updates.💪 #Sustainability #PlasticPollution #Bioplastics
