⚡ Help us build the grid of the future! The Office of Electricity just launched the American-Made Silicon Carbide (SiC) Packaging Prize competition. This $2.25 million prize aims to expand research and development of SiC semiconductor packaging in the energy marketplace. Semiconductors manage the flow of electric currents in devices like mobile phones, laptops, and digital cameras. Silicon carbide is the raw material for semiconductors because it can withstand high electricity voltage changes and temperatures. While SiC semiconductors can handle these conditions, conventional packaging overheats, limiting their performance. By upgrading semiconductor devices, it helps to advance EV charging and battery storage. Submissions due Aug. 30, 2024.
