The goal is to establish a contemporary, resource-savvy, and competitive economy that achieves carbon neutrality by 2050, while also ensuring that economic advancement is detached from resource consumption. The ambition for 2050 is to significantly diminish air, water, and soil pollution to levels that pose no threat to human health or the environment, while staying within the planet's ecological limits, ultimately paving the way for a pollution-free environment. Preparing for the European Green Deal (EGD) involves a multi-faceted approach, addressing both immediate and long-term challenges and opportunities. Access Naturals has already taken the first steps in order to be compliant by: 1. Staying informed on the Regulatory Framework and any updates or changes 2. Assessing current impact and compliance 3. Developing a strategic Sustainability Plan by setting long-term goals together with short-term milestones, aligned with the EGD's objectives. 4. As the new legislative term begins in Brussels, have you seen our 'La Rentrée Checklist' billboards in EU area metro stations?   With over 80 years in the EU market, PepsiCo brings valuable insights from our international experience and ambitious sustainability agenda. We’re eager to collaborate with the European Commission, European Parliament, and other stakeholders to shape impactful policies through open dialogue and constructive debates.   Here’s how we see key priorities:   👩🏽🌾 Sustainable #Agriculture: We want to spread regenerative practices across 243,000 hectares of EU farmland. However, long-term investments with coherent objectives and harmonized MRV systems are essential.   🌍 #Climate Action: We aim to reduce our scope 1 & 2 emissions by 75% and scope 3 by 40% by 2030, reaching net-zero by 2040. Accelerated investments in electricity grid infrastructure are critical for decarbonising through electrification.   ♻️ Circular Economy: We're aiming to eliminate virgin fossil-based plastic in all our crisp #packaging by 2030. Achieving this requires clear and swift implementing legislation following PPWR.    💧 #Water Stewardship: Our goal is to replenish 100% of the water used in our high-water-risk facilities back into local watersheds. ICYMI last week the Circular Economy Bill was passed 🎉 Dr Ania Escudero of Glasgow Caledonian University, HNC Research Leader Fellow leading the #HydroNationChair's mission on Embracing the Circular Economy, has reflected on this milestone in Scottish #policy. "We are delighted that Scotland’s Circular Economy bill has passed without opposition. This Bill includes measures to help Scotland develop a circular economy (CE), by increasing reuse and recycling. It includes publishing a CE strategy every 5 years, setting statutory circular economy targets, reducing waste, increasing penalties for littering from vehicles, making sure both householders and businesses get rid of waste in the right way and improving waste monitoring.   This is a great step forwards towards a transition to a more circular economy and towards Scotland’s commitments on tackling climate change. The Hydro Nation Chair Research & Innovation Programme exists to support the water sector in Scotland in its push to Net Zero and beyond. Research and Innovation relating to the Circular Economy is at the heart of this. We strongly support the strengthening of policy and the increase in ambition in relation to the Circular Economy.
