Leadership Traits – Learning from the T20 Cricket World Cup Now that the World Cup victory has sunk in, there are no doubts in anyone's mind that the person behind the scenes who made it possible was the India cricket team coach and mentor, Rahul Dravid! For me, there are a few traits of Rahul Dravid that stand out and inspire me, applicable to leaders across different fields, whether corporate or cricket. Passion – A rare scene of an animated Rahul Dravid holding the T20 World Cup simply exhibits passion - "Passionate leadership is the capacity to translate a vision into reality" Persistence – Rahul, captain of the 2007 ODI World Cup (India exited in the first round), Head Coach of the 2023 ODI World Cup (India lost in the finals), and the 2024 T20 World Cup (India became World Champions). These roles demonstrate persistent traits towards a common goal - "Persistence is a virtue that shapes great leaders" Humility – Passing the credit to the players, appreciating the captain for his actions, and being the last person to hold the cup—these are virtues much adored in leadership - "Humility in leadership means understanding that the team's success comes before personal accolades" Certainly, there were many other traits seen during the match, like lateral thinking—such as the decision to send Axar Patel up the order, which was among the key decisions of the match, exhibiting out-of-the-box thinking and decisive decision-making. Well, it was a game to remember, one that also taught us things beyond cricket! #mentoring #leadership #traits #rahuldravid #t20 #cricket #teamwork Vaibhav Telang Rahul Rao Piyush Gupta Rajeev Palanki Akhtar Ali Danny Mace Sridhar Muppidi Erin Handgen

India won the T20 Cricket World Cup, and I couldn't be prouder. While many of us are celebrating the team's victory, it's true that at one point, around the 14th or 15th over, most of us (including myself) had lost hope. I'm so glad the team proved us wrong. Here are a few key takeaways for me from the game: 🔅It's never over until it's actually over. 🔅Believe in yourself and give your all to the process. 🔅Resilience is key to making the best out of any situation. 🔅Stay calm and composed while giving your 100%. What I will remember most about this moment is the #vulnerability the team showed after their win. They stayed #calm and gave their all until the very end, and once their hard work paid off, we saw some truly pure and raw #emotions. For instance, Hardik spoke about his struggles over the past few months and became very emotional. And who could forget seeing our King Kohli, getting emotional while speaking to his family on the phone. Or Hitman Rohit Sharma, showing his vulnerable side when he was consoling his teammates, demonstrating the true strength of a captain. We even saw our coach, "The Wall" Rahul Dravid, express raw emotions never shown before. It was powerful to see our team pouring out their emotions—dancing, crying, laughing like no one was watching. These moments of vulnerability and #authenticity made the victory even more meaningful. As a #Purpose Alignment Coach, these moments remind me of the importance of staying true to our journey, embracing our vulnerabilities, and giving our all, no matter the odds. Celebrate the wins, learn from the struggles, and always keep pushing forward. P. My two bits on the Positive Psychology of the team! Since the past couple of years, the Indian Cricket team has been showing signs of a champion squad and are again proving the cricket pundits right by reaching the Finals of the ICC T20 World Cup, where they take on South Africa tomorrow in Barbados. Here I am making an attempt to decode the body language of the Indian squad. Incorporating psychological principles, I find four aspects standing out, which make them a winner. These shed light on the team’s behavior while underscoring the depth of their transformation towards becoming a truly champion side. The Indian cricket team’s journey to the finals is a testament to the power of belief, will, balance, and commitment. These principles are not just limited to sports but are applicable to any domain where excellence is sought. By understanding and applying these psychological concepts, anyone can strive towards their own championship moment, whether on the field, in the office, or in personal endeavors. #Cricket #ICCT20 #Worldcup #PositivePsychology #Behaviours #Leadership #coaching
