UNITED STATES PANCREATIC DISEASE STUDY GROUP (USPG) UPDATE FROM DDW 2024 The United States Pancreatic Disease Study Group was founded at DDW 2023 in Chicago. Some members of the USPG met at DDW 2024 in Washington DC to review progress and establish new goals. These are the small milestones achieved by the group in the past 12 months: 1. Publication of the Direct Endoscopic vs. Step-up Interventions in Necrotizing Pancreatitis (DESTIN) Randomized Trial (NCT05043415) in Lancet Gastroenterology and Hepatology. 2. Commencement of the Endoscopic Palliation of Pain in Chronic Pancreatitis (EPOCH) Multi-Center Randomized Trial (NCT06178315). Up to 8 patients have been enrolled in this clinical trial to-date. 3. Submission of the EPOCH study protocol to CLINICAL TRIALS for publication. 4. Development of protocols to assess the impact of disconnected pancreatic duct syndrome (DPDS). A manuscript is currently under development. 5. Validating the Effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence in Pancreatic Cancer which is ongoing at Orlando Health. 6. Evaluating the timing of interventions in infected necrotizing pancreatitis. The 12-month-old USPG is up and running. While the milestones we have achieved thus far may appear to be small, it is our goal to make USPG a premier research consortium. Please stay tuned for more new developments from our group. #uspg #pancreas #research #orlandohealth
