Stewart Clements has written an excellent article on behalf of our industry body Manufacturers' Association of Radiators and Convectors (MARC). It follows a common theme among my LinkedIn community: we need to move to low temperature systems. Accurate heat loss modelling, good system design and on-point performance data are key to that. It may be National Radiator Day (really) but to my mind, the days of simple radiator + combi boiler systems are over - central heating systems of the next few decades will be a more complex mix of heat sources, emitters, specialist distribution networks and electrical sensors with a greater emphasis on efficiency than ever before. And as Heat Geek have been saying for years, it's the world's installers that will help us get to where we need to be. It's an exciting time to be in the industry and I'm so pleased to have become well acquainted with some of the best and brightest folk leading the charge towards a cleaner heating future. It may be a reference to installations where the rate on the electricity meter is still set for storage heaters. The rate and tariff should match the heating system.

Did you know heat networks are inherently flexible? They can be connected to multiple sources of low carbon heat. Common sources of low carbon heat can be found in the air, ground or water, and are captured using heat pumps. Bristol, a historic harbour city, uses the floating harbour to generate 3MW of heat through an award-winning water source heat pump. This provides heating and hot water to 2,500 homes through the Bristol heat network.
