Just delving into the fascinating world of investment banking and discovered its two main divisions: Investment Banking and Capital Market. 1. Investment Banking: Focused on raising capital for corporations through equity or debt offerings and has two groups. - Industry Groups: Interact directly with clients, specializing in sectors like finance, tech, retail, and more. - Product Groups: Handle specific financial instruments like mergers, acquisitions, and originations. 2. Capital Markets: Facilitate the buying and selling of securities. It’s grouped into the S&T and Research. - Sales & Trading: Executes buy and sell orders for clients. - Research: Analyzes companies and markets to provide investment insights. I’ve known it to be an independent financial institution, whereas they consist of different institutional entities working together to make the capital market operation viable.
