Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, have gained global recognition as the first binational World Design Capital. Home to Aeropuertos GAP’s Tijuana International Airport (TIJ), the world’s first binational airport that’s seamlessly connected to the United States thanks to the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), this isn’t the region’s first foray into cross-border collaboration, and it won’t be the last. San Diego State University’s Mike Freeman reports on how the momentum is driving research and investment in binational urban planning and breathing new life into a 50-year-old blueprint for a binational “zone of confluence” that shares its economy, environment, and cultures. https://brnw.ch/21wJdBS

Record-breaking increase in passenger-figures at Sønderborg Airport ✈️ In October, Sønderborg Airport had 54% more passengers compared to last year. A major explanation for the increase in passenger numbers in October has been that Alsie Express has added more departures around the autumn holidays, and this has had a positive effect and contributed to more tourists to the city and the region. In addition, German Neubauer Reisen GmbH has had two charter flights to southern destinations with their Boeing 737-800. In the first ten months of the year, the South Jutland airport has had over 47,000 passengers – a total increase of 15 per cent compared to the same period last year. "The airport would like to be a significant player in promoting and enabling transport opportunities for the regional business community, as well as help promote tourism in the area. We are in constant dialogue with current and potential new players about promoting the interests of South Jutland," says Jákup Sverri Kass, CEO of Sønderborg Airport. Sønderborg Airport is busier than it has been for many years. In addition to the record-high passenger growth, there is a lot of activity around the actual modernization of the airport itself. The four invited architectural firms participating in the airport's architectural competition had until 1 November to submit their ideas for the future terminal building, and all four architectural firms have submitted their bids. The publication of the winning architectural proposal is expected to take place around the turn of the year. Read more 👉 https://lnkd.in/dcxh2Tup

How will REGENT’s full-scale seaglider prototype reshape regional coastal travel? REGENT Craft has entered the hardware and systems integration phase for its full-scale Viceroy seaglider prototype, marking significant progress toward realizing seaglider travel. Set for sea trials later this year, the Viceroy will be the world’s first passenger-carrying seaglider, validated by extensive on-water testing. CEO Billy Thalheimer expressed excitement about witnessing the prototype in action, highlighting the company's rapid pace in electric mobility. After conceptualizing the seaglider in 2020, REGENT conducted hundreds of hours of tests on a quarter-scale model. Now, with support from digital twin technology, REGENT’s full-scale prototype is being prepared for tests across floating, foiling, and flying modes. CTO Michael Klinker noted the engineering team’s expertise as pivotal in bringing the seaglider prototype to life. With over 600 orders valued at $9 billion, and approval from the U.S. Coast Guard for testing, REGENT is poised to meet growing global demand for sustainable coastal travel. What do you think will be the most significant impact of seagliders on regional transportation?
