With Giles Dickson (CEO of WindEurope) at Copenhagen Airport this morning on the way back from the #NSEC (North Sea Energy Cooperation) meeting that took place yesterday in Odense together with the energy ministers (Lex Delles for Luxembourg) and the EU-Commission. At this conference, industry representatives called for more cooperation between countries, securing financing for the necessary massive expansion of renewable energy in Europe and strengthening the local supply chain for this expansion. Of course, the need for faster approval procedures was also emphasized in order to achieve the goals set in the energy transition on time. At the same time at home, FEDIL - The Voice of Luxembourg's Industry , at the invitation of the government, put forward proposals on how we can massively improve the approval procedures for renewables at home in line with national goals. The “Energiedësch” must not become an alibi event. In the near future, depending on the type of project, permits must be granted two to four times faster. To sum up Giles' conclusions yesterday: "all this a.s.a.p.!"

What does the ideal path look like for the CASE countries -- #Indonesia #Philippines #Thailand and #Vietnam -- to achieve climate goals while meeting surging energy demands and advancing their economies? 📙 Our new research brief, titled "Navigating the Transition to Net-zero Emissions in Southeast Asia - Energy Security, the Role of Gaseous Energy Carriers and Renewables-based Electrification", suggests that prioritizing renewable energy expansion and electrification across sectors are key. 👉 What did we do? We analysed net-zero pathways time for the CASE countries under two different scenarios: one centred on reducing fossil fuel use through electrification and the other using renewable gases such as hydrogen. 🔍 What did we find? 1) Rapidly scaling up renewable infrastructure to replace fossil gas can lead to long-term economic security, as fossil reserves are dwindling and renewables, particularly solar, have become more affordable. 2) Electrifying energy end-use, such as switching to electric vehicles or heat pumps in industrial processes, is more efficient than relying on hydrogen. 3) The integration of energy supply, storage and end-users is vital for a reliable and affordable clean energy future. 💻 To watch the webinar: https://lnkd.in/gUkdUysw 📚 To read the report: https://lnkd.in/gETZPmpm #netzero #renewables #electrification #CASEforSEA #energytransistion #southeastasia #naturalgas NewClimate Institute GIZ Thailand Agora Energiewende
