Last week, Silvia San Felipe Menéndez and Adrián García Pacios, from the Regulatory-Energy Team, participated together with Fundación Asturiana de la Energía, FAEN and representatives from 8 other European countries in the Workshop on effective management and conservation systems in wind areas, which took place in Jelgava (Latvia) and is part of the #Biowind Project.   This Project, co-financed by the European Union, will run from 2023 to 2027 and aims, among other objectives, to improve the social acceptance of #wind energy in the different territories of the European Union, identify and promote good practices in relation to this technology, as well as to simplify the regulations and authorization procedures related to wind farm projects.   The participation in such a relevant project reflects Ontier's commitment and dedication to the development and deployment of #renewable energies, both in Spain and in the rest of the European Union, in a context of #energy transition such as the one we are currently experiencing.

Standing in a city so deeply tied to the sea, energy, and innovation, I shared thoughts on the incredible opportunities in offshore wind. Here’s what I shared: 1️⃣ Offshore wind is Norway’s next great opportunity. It goes far beyond just clean energy. This is about growth, new jobs, and positioning ourselves as a leader on the global stage. But the need for clean energy is more urgent than ever, and offshore wind has the potential to power entire regions sustainably. 2️⃣ Technologies like recyclable rotor blades and CO₂-reduced steel aren’t just buzzwords. They’re game-changers setting new standards for sustainability and efficiency. These innovations show what’s possible when we focus on both performance and reducing our environmental impact. 3️⃣ Norwegian suppliers are already making waves globally. Their expertise is recognized and in demand around the world. But there is so much untapped potential to provide even more clean energy solutions. To seize this moment, we need bold moves and strong collaboration. Norway has a window to lead, not just follow. But it takes all of us, with ambition, knowledge, and a willingness to act. 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸? Is Norway ready to lead the way in offshore wind, or are there hurdles we need to overcome together? This week saw Matt Hodson chair the second day of the #4thAnnualFloatingWindEurope conference in Berlin... Project developers, EPCI contractors, OEM's, supply chain companies, insurers, finance, investors, legal and government all came together for two days of discussions - with both #enthusiasm and #pragmatism. Key take-aways: ⚡ Widespread agreement on the challenges of delivering GW of #FLOW - in Europe and around the world. ⚡ Thinking on EPCI scale production approaches is developing - with a strong sense of pragmatism. ⚡ Contracting models must evolve to meet developing need. ⚡ Progress has been made in developing key balance of plant solutions - including moorings, inter-array cables and connectors. However.... how to increase early investment into the supply chain? ⚡ Planning for Operations and Maintenance needs to be undertaken as early as possible. Ideally as part of, even ahead of, early project development. Engagement with the insurance world on this is crucial. To this regard, we want to highlight the importance of the work carried out by Cabeólica in the field of clean energy production in Cabo Verde. It is worth mentioning, our actions help reduce the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, as our activity does not involve the emission of polluting substances. Moreover, we safeguard the gradual replacement of fossil fuels saving the country millions on the purchase of diesel oil. In addition, wind energy production is not associated with the emission of ozone-depleting matters. Here you will find an overview of opportunities we have to collaborate with nature in many areas: for our health, safety, food and well-being, for renewable energy and to protect biodiversity. Part of the campaign focuses on renewable energy production. We must move away from fossil fuels and commit 100% to renewable energy, such as wind and solar power. Belgium is a frontrunner and is fully committed to offshore wind energy. 🦈 4Sea promotes offshore energy development, but in a way that helps protect and promote the natural treasures of the Belgian North Sea. Use nature-inclusive design in the design, development, implementation and decommissioning of all offshore infrastructure. 🦀 The Belgian energy plan must be accompanied by a biodiversity plan, because our valuable nature deserves a place.
