Thank you University of Cambridge and Lucy Cavendish College for the opportunity to be part of the course "Key Essentials: The Global Biodiversity Framework, Sustainabile Development and the Law." The short online course has 6 modules: Module 1: Course Introduction and Orientation Module 2: Nature Conservation, Ecosystem Restoration and Biodiversity Protection Module 3: Sustainabile Use and Management of Biodiversity, Trade of Wildlife Species and Ecosystems Valuation Module 4: Benefit-Sharing and Protection of Traditional Indigenous Knowledge Module 5: Biodiversity Finance, Capacity-Building, Scientific Cooperation and Tech Transfer Module 6: Course Conclusion and Final Remarks. Truly, the course content were remarkable, well structured and incredibly insightful. The course has further broaden my knowledge on complex Biodiversity concepts and made me understand how they can be implemented effectively in environmental situations, and how unique environmental challenges can be addressed in different locations. The course was well engaging, nonetheless, I will like to place the following suggestions for improvement: - Incorporate more interactive and experiential learning activities. - Provide additional resources and support for participants to apply course knowledge in their own contexts. - Invite more guest speakers from diverse sectors and regions. - Offer ongoing support and networking opportunities post-course completion. I appreciate the emphasis on integrating biodiversity conservation with social, economic, and political considerations. The course has enhanced my understanding of the complex relationships between human well-being and environmental sustainability. I look forward to staying connected and contributing to the global biodiversity conservation community. Maeve E. Bridging the Gap between Biodiversity Net Gain and Nature Positive England's mandatory BNG requires developments to follow the Biodiversity Gain Hierarchy and create more wildlife-rich habitats, and to demonstrate BNG by using the statutory Biodiversity Metric. But while BNG is a step forward, it is only the start. There is now a fast-rising momentum for businesses to contribute to the global Nature Positive goal. But how do we get from a project-level BNG to a corporate-level agenda on Nature Positive? This was the question we asked Amy to answer, when Amy undertook her MSc research project with us. Amy dived into the literature, undertook a series of interviews, and collated everything to develop a conceptual framework on the bridge from BNG to Nature Positive. Today Amy is presenting her findings to our Motts team as part of our Lunch & Learn sessions, together with her insights, learnings and recommendations. TGBS does not just provide an assessment and certification scheme, but also offers mentoring to enhance biodiversity outcomes. As we reflect on a decade of growing conservation impact through USAID's Measuring Impact and Measuring Impact II, the founding of the Conservation Enterprises Cross-Mission Learning Program in 2015 was a watershed moment! By facilitating connections across biodiversity and conservation teams worldwide, this program paved the way for effective collaborating, learning, and adapting rooted in learning! Aimed at aiding project managers and developers in balancing critical infrastructure with thriving natural environments, the EIC's Nature Guide emphasises valuable insights, best practices, and recent regulatory updates.
