#EmployeeResourceGroups #ERGs #InclusiveWorkplaces #HR #Talent Last week was a busy but fulfilling week! ⭐Started the week in Vegas, speaking to the #EPICHR audience on the "ERG Talent Advantage" and meeting some amazing new connections, vendors, and resources I will highlight soon. ⭐Spoke to a great group at MiraCosta College in a panel discussion on vetting inclusive employers ⭐Sat on another great panel with McLean & Company, with a virtual audience of HR leaders. ⭐Finally, I got to meet Maceo Owens in person and engage with some ERG advocates on a panel (Khris B. In Person, too!) and in small group interactions, ending the week on a high note at the Los Angeles stop of the #ERGEngagement tour by The ERG Movement hosted by the Kinecta Federal Credit Union LA Team! Here are a few highlights for leaders from my week: ✅ Don't miss out on developing your engaged talent and internal hiring within the race to attract the best and innovate. Your ERGs can be a powerhouse when supported and incorporated into the business strategy, including hiring and retention. ✅The world of work is becoming more global. To build an inclusive workforce, leverage cultural awareness training and inclusive programs such as ERGs & BRGs. Your ERGs can serve as regional and chapter ambassadors and advocates, influencing program design and culture. ✅You are screening candidates, they are screening you too. What will potential applicants find about your organization? More importantly, will diverse candidates find you and WANT to work with you? ✅Launching ERGs is just the first phase. How are you supporting them? I get energized being in a community with ERG leaders—that's not work for me. The core of my "work" is with executive leaders, people managers, and individual contributors who need to be allies and advocates. @EQImindset is derived from the three words EQuity, Inclusion, and Mindset. It's about employee resource groups and meeting companies and leaders where they are while pushing the message across the organization to take them where they need to be with their internal communities. I get by with a full week, but, more importantly, a whole and purposeful one energizes me and keeps me going. I hope you have a purpose-filled week, everyone! Been amazing watching this game changing software come to fruition. Companies who are genuinely incredible have had no real way to stand out since investors in people, great place to work etc are tick box exercises that any business can game the process to get. And industry awards are based on an application form without any verification of what's written. Shite companies who tell a good story get shortlisted beside actual good ones. Now, genuinely exceptional companies have a reliable and valid method to prove their standard above the rest. In this time of record low unemployment this is how businesses can stand out and attract (and retain) the best talent. Can't wait to hear from these awesome businesses that have achieved the Vibrant Workplace Accreditation.

🏆 I recently saw two companies shortlisted for the same best employer award & messaged people working in each. One replied: "Perfect example how to bullsh*t an application form." The other said: "Yes funny I was thinking about that and I have to say they are a great company." This person then went into detail to explain all the things the company does which make it such a good employer and actually… .. they really do sound like a caring company!! 😍 Employees having a positive experience working for you are your greatest brand ambassador: ▪️They will bring in BOTH more customers and more talented employees. ▪️They will help you keep BOTH too. If they don’t have a positive experience working for you… 💀 These two businesses were shortlisted for the same award. Is that ok? 🤔 While it was only one review of each, I would believe the word of someone working in a company 1,000% more than someone reading an application form. I would believe a balanced review from the whole workforce assessed over a fair and meaningful period of time A TRILLION PERCENT more too! 6 in 10 employees are quit quietly globally and 51% express some level of intent to leave their job. You would say it’s a wake-up call for employers to change their policies for fostering employee engagement. But employees are not powerless in that situation. I personally had 2 a-ha moments recently. Something ticked my mind while reading the book ‘First Steps to wealth’ by Dani Johnson. She wrote: “98% of the population wants to find a job that they love, but that is not how it works. If you find a way to love your job now, you will be given more”. It echoed something I had learned before in the Potentialife positive leadership program: how to overcome the moments of weariness we experience, when we are confronted with tasks we find boring at work by reinventing our perspective and understanding how these actions contribute to the bigger organization’s purpose. The difference between “I am filing documents” – boring 😪 and “I am contributing to the good organization of the company so we can secure more revenue” – on top 😇 or “I'm mopping the floor in a hospital”- 👎 zero and “I am protecting patients from infections” - 🦸 hero. I used these 2 laws, without knowing they were laws earlier in my professional journey when I was working odd jobs. I once was hired – with my 3 Master’s degrees – to work on a book fair as an events assistant. I was in charge of greeting the authors, making sure they had their name tags and a bottle of water in front of them and doing timekeeping. On the first day on the job, a round table was about to start at the official time of the lunch break. My 1st intent was to go out to eat and just hope someone else on the team would handle things for me. After all the task at hand was pretty basic. But a more senior colleague talked me out of it. That day she really challenged me to take upon me the ownership of the good organization of the whole conference round. For 4 days, I was at it. At the end of the book fair, I received all sorts of praises because it turned out that it was the 1st time in 3 years that the panels were organized flawlessly. That opened the door to my graduating from a 1-month temporary contract to being hired permanently at a midlevel position in the company. I had understood that I was more than putting name tags and bottles of water on a table but contributing to the promotion and reputation of the company through the good organization of the panels. We wanted to share a little September recap and what the team has been up to over the last month! 1. We celebrated Kateena and Aaron returning from their holiday! Refreshed from their European getaway and ready to dive into all the projects we’ve got lined up for the rest of the year. 2. Welcomed back 12 returning clients. We're super excited to be working with them again! 3. Plenty of HR partnering and projects... - Collaborated with a few different businesses to build out their HR strategy for the year ahead. - Rolled out a fresh recruitment and onboarding plan that incorporated DISC psychometric testing. - Helped with planning and logistics for a team charity event, an employee conference and milestone celebrations. - Revamped recruitment strategies and helped 7 businesses with recruitment of 18 roles. - Supported a number of clients through difficult conversations, internal investigations and exit processes. 4. Made time to connect with our team. From morning coffee walks, surprise office treats, and a birthday lunch, we made sure to balance work with some good fun! And that turnover costs on average 1.5-2 times the employee's salary. Burnout costs businesses through turnover, but first it will cost you in worse performance, lower morale, poor customer service, absenteeism, health care costs, and more. According to Gallup, 75% of employees experience workplace burnout at least some of the time. And while 91 percent of surveyed leaders believed their employees thought they cared about their well-being, that number was actually 56%, according to Deloitte. Business psychologist and employee well-being consultant Rachel Boehm, Rachel Boehm Coaching & Consulting LLC, will share the top contributing factors and red flags that signal burnout, and critical strategies that leaders can enact to burnout-proof their culture.  Takeaways include:  Recognizing the stages of burnout  What works and what doesn't in "employee wellness"  What most employers do wrong, and what to do right As a special bonus to this outstanding presentation, you will also have an opportunity to learn more about some of the OUTSTANDING nonprofit members of the CFCC!
