First Unitil proposed a lower price for heat pump users, and now National Grid will be doing the same thing. That will mean close to 1.5 million households with access to discounts for using heat pumps. My latest for the Energy News Network.

If we truly want MA customers to decarbonize their homes, we have to make the economics make sense when converting from Natural Gas. This is a step in the right direction; by requiring National Grid to offer a special Heat Pump rate the hope is we can start to see some parity (or maybe even reductions) in operating costs, on top of all the other benefits heat pumps offer.

Thinking about making the switch from a gas boiler to a heat pump? The choice may seem straightforward until you consider the impact on the electricity network. In our latest blog, Beth Warnock, Senior Power Systems Engineer, takes us beyond the meter, exploring how widespread heat pump adoption will change the demands on the network, especially during winter’s coldest days. What does the network need to do to maintain comfort for millions during freezing temperatures? Read Beth’s blog to find out: https://lnkd.in/e6KnkMJx
