Contrastingly, the view from the US, as detailed by the National Petroleum Council (NPC), presents a more cautious and sobering perspective. The NPC report, spurred by a request from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Secretary Jennifer Granholm, indicates that under current policies, the US is unlikely to meet its net-zero emissions goals with the projected growth of the hydrogen industry. This report highlights the need for significant changes in federal support and policy adjustments to expedite the growth of the hydrogen industry, particularly concerning the production capacities and infrastructure required to support both 'green' and 'blue' hydrogen at the scale needed for substantial emission reductions. The Committee’s hearing on retrofitting our homes for a net zero future was already scheduled for December 4th, updating a committee inquiry heating our homes that was curtailed by the General Election earlier this year. A leading electric vehicle (EV) charge point management platform has secured £8.7 million of funding to propel its next phase of growth in the UK and Ireland. Lancaster-based Fuuse's investment comes from lead investor YFM Equity Partners, and existing investors Par Equity and an angel syndicate. The money will be focused on scaling its enterprise product offer that delivers a trusted and reliable charging experience for charge point operators, destinations, fleets and workplace charging, as well as providing additional products and services for its network of solutions partners. Clients include SSE plc, ScottishPower, British Airways, Siemens, United Utilities and Arnold Clark. Ouch. We REALLY need better community involvement in solar farms. Partial community ownership is the strongest way to get people on board. UK solar trade body Solar Energy UK recently said similar in their best practice guide: https://lnkd.in/ezgBeCeH "In some circumstances, there may be an opportunity for communities to share ownership of a solar farm project. Shared ownership gives local individuals and community groups the chance to make an investment in a commercially owned solar farm. This can open new financial streams for the community and build an active body of stakeholders who can share the financial benefits across the community. Of course they would! It is merely a question of self interest. The current buzz from the word “renewable” means different things to different people. What is needed for manufacturing (or indeed domestic harmony) to prosper is to balance “electricity” with maximum energy security. Imagine your data centre running with the threat of blackouts? This requires a mix of energy types, dependent on local requirements.

Frequency markets are a critical element for an energy system and in de-regulated markets can make up a material chunk of the value stack for assets able to provide frequency balancing services, like battery storage but increasingly including other asset types like EV fleets. In Australia that means FCAS (Frequency Control Ancillary Services). In GB that means Dynamic Containment, Moderation and Regulation, collectively the Dx markets. Whilst there are some common elements between different energy markets there are also some really significant differences.
