Three questions to ask to get honest feedback from your team via Mateo Jaramillo:
1. What do you love about working here?
2. What do you hate about working here?
3. What advice do you have for me?
In my Lightening Lesson last week, we discussed the importance of soft skills, and Mateo shared how he spends WAY more time on this than than he expected.

That is also something that I spend more time thinking about and working on that I ever thought that I would sort of like just thinking about the humans involved and thinking about the dynamics of the humans involved. Maybe that's really obvious when I say it out loud. People actually like, because I, I, who was telling me on the weekend that we always talk about the soft skills. They're actually the hardest skills, like getting humans to work together, you know, And like, do you feel like you spend more or less time in human interaction, coaching, cultural building, kind of process building or let more or less than you would have expected way more. And, and part of it is just sort of keeping the communications there. Like meeting people, you know, making sure they see me, making sure that I hear from people directly, not just my direct reports, right? So, so I've taken up something which was recommended to me and, and it's an easy way to just have meetings with anybody in the, I asked my executive listen to just kind of schedule these things and our recurring basis and I have 3 questions and the same questions every time. What do you love about working it for? What do you hate working about form and what advice do you have for me? And I love it that they can be short, 1015 minutes. You want to go longer, They can, but I keep a log and it allows me to just kind of like track general sentiment and like you see themes and you see the way people are thinking about things. And so it's doing that kind of stuff that I never really anticipated before. Like, you do have to be systematic about it. You've got to be structured about it. And you can't just sort of be like, oh, I know that guy. Yeah, just doesn't really work that way, you know? And like the bigger the organization and the less connection the newer people have to the original founders, for example. Like I, I don't really trust that I'll hear the truth all the time. And that's not because people are trying to deceive me, but because they don't know me or we don't have a, we don't have the relationship pathway, you know, those kinds of thing.
