How can we control the amount of waste that we produce in order to promote sustainability? There are many ways! We can go paperless. Despite the world becoming more technologically advanced, most businesses still use paper and ink, which is one of the biggest waste categories. Let's try donating things we don't need any more but are still useful. For example, try donating books to a free library. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Try to reduce what you buy, and reuse it whenever you can! Finished your lunch? Try composting your leftovers! Sort your waste by type and dispose of containers and bottles in recycling bins. Let's all do our part to eliminate waste as much as we can! #reducewaste #sustainability #reducegarbage

According to the Britannica Dictionary, recycling involves creating something new from items that have been used before. At Desert Wireless, our mission is to prioritize reusing and repurposing the electronic waste we collect rather than merely recycling it. By focusing on reuse and repurposing, we keep electronics out of landfills, protect the environment, and provide valuable goods at reasonable costs that might otherwise be inaccessible. The electronics we collect are distributed both within the US and internationally, helping to deliver essential goods and services to individuals and communities that might otherwise lack access. Before sending your items to traditional recycling programs, please consider our Reuse and Repurpose initiative. By choosing our program, you will make a positive impact on many lives while contributing to environmental protection. We place a value on each piece of electronics we process and pay for them; accordingly, we don’t purchase by the pound or accept items without value. #goodwill #salvationarmy #nonprofit #unitedway #stvincentdepaul #catholiccharities #habitatforhumanity #hospice #stjude #woundedwarriors #peta #humanesociety #communitycollege #university

🌊 The Great Pacific Garbage Patch GPGP is the largest accumulation of floating ocean #plastics in the world. The Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization operating to rid the world’s oceans of plastic, has revealed an alarming trend about the GPGP: ‼️the rapid rise in smaller plastic fragments that is nearly fivefold increase in just seven years. It creates long-term, potentially irreversible damage to our #oceans. ⚠️ If we delay, the impacts of plastic #pollution will become even more challenging to reverse it. Did you know that recycling paper helps reduce tree felling, save energy and reduce landfill waste? But how can you contribute to this essential cycle? Here are some tips 👇 ✨ Separate Clean Paper: Make sure the paper you recycle is not contaminated with food or grease residues. 📎 Remove Staples and Paper Clips: Before recycling, remove any metallic elements to facilitate the recycling process. 🚮 Donate Used Paper: If you have paper that you no longer need but can still be used, consider donating it to schools, offices or recycling centers. ♻ Use Recycled Paper: Opt for recycled paper whenever possible to further reduce your environmental impact. #paper #recycle #recycledpaper #seekingatotallysustainablefuture #uniter #Checkpoint #CCLIndustries

Fascinating article from the British Charity Keep Britain Tidy. Do we need to change our day-to-day communications and better educate the public about waste prevention? Could being more open and transparent online help people understand that it's not just simply about recycling what we use, but rather about being more conscious of what we buy, use, and how we dispose of waste? #Tradeprint #sustainabilitymatters #Print #Marketing

WASTE REDUCTION WEEK - E-Waste Wednesday In 2022, the world produced 62 billion kg of electronic waste (e-waste)—the equivalent of 1.55 million trucks—double the amount generated in 2010 (Global e-waste monitor, 2024). Consider donating or selling your electronic item instead of disposing them in your garbage. If we continue to throw out our devices, or store them in a closet in perpetuity, we are following old habits of the linear economy (take-make-waste). To think circular, let’s repair, replace parts (refurbish), and encourage businesses and manufacturers to take back devices for remanufacturing. Did you know that 53 million tons of e-waste was generated worldwide? That's the weight of 350 cruise ships! And a shocking 82.6% of that e-waste isn't recycled! 🚮 We all know the mantra: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. But when it comes to IT assets, we need to consider a fourth 'R': Resell. 💻 Instead of letting old computers sit in a landfill, why not give them a second life? Here are seven factors to consider when choosing between recycling, donating, or reselling your IT assets: 1. **Data Security:** Ensure all data is certifiably wiped clean before disposal. 2. **Environmental Impact:** Consider the environmental footprint of your disposal method. 3. **Value Recovery:** Can you get some monetary value from your old assets? 4. **Compliance:** Do you follow all legal and regulatory guidelines? 5. **Reputation:** How will your choice affect your company's image? 6. **Logistics:** What are the costs and efforts involved in each disposal method? 7. **Charitable Causes:** Can your old assets help someone in need?
