🍃 Tackling Weeds in a Bushland Reserve 🍃 1.30-2.30pm 10 Sept Online. Join WA Landcare Network Inc and its special guests to discuss how best to tackle the seemingly insurmountable burden of introduced weeds in a bushland reserve. Many Friends of Reserve Groups are daunted by the sheer number of weeds in their local patch, and could use a bit of guidance about how to prioritise and plan an effective weed control program. This is a chance to raise your weed control issues in a forum of like minded people and to hear from others about their challenges and their strategies. Presenters: 🍃 Peta Lierich, Biodiversity Officer and weed specialist from Nature Conservation Margaret River Region. "How groups can tackle their weed issues and how they are working with nearby residents to ensure reinfestation of reserves is minimised." 🍃 Peta Goodwin from the Friends of Barrett Street Reserve in Margaret River who is passionate about tackling weeds in her patch. "Hear how this small group have planned weed control activities, harnessed external volunteer labour to make an impact, and even engaged an artist to raise community awareness of common weeds within the reserve." Happy Fishy Fishery Friday!🎣 The Nassau grouper closed season is over, but some fish will still migrate to spawn or breed this month. Please remember to #fishsmart and eat sustainably to help this critically endangered species to recover. Here’s how you can help: • Leave the juveniles (current minimum size limit is >3lb or 48 cm in length in The Bahamas) • Avoid fishing on spawning sites • Use fish traps with biodegradable fasteners • Properly dispose of fishing gear • Eat Grouper alternatives grunts, jacks, lionfish or mahi mahi instead • Avoid polluting the environment & follow the 5 Rs: Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, Recycle. To learn more about ongoing research & conservation efforts to rebuild Nassau grouper populations in The Bahamas, check-out our webinar: https://lnkd.in/gRmKU9HP Thank you for supporting local fishery regulations. #fisheriesresearch #fishfactfriday #fisheryregulations #protectbreedinggrounds #saveourgrouper

The Nature Conservancy hosted a short film series in D.C., moderated by Jan Glendening, Director of North America Region, TNC. The film, Harvesting Hope, highlighted how the Farm Bill supports the everyday farmer and rancher. We were fortunate to partner with such great people who allowed us to help share their unique and diverse stories. Policy is an important aspect of our work and there is no greater demonstration of public-private partnership conservation efforts on private lands than the Farm Bill. As we quickly approach the September 30th deadline to reauthorize the next Farm Bill, we are reminded through these stories that failed political negotiations have a real-life impact. The U.S. continues to see a gradual decline in the number of farms that provide food, fiber, and shelter for a world population that is steadily increasing. Congress needs to pass a strong bipartisan Farm Bill that allows farmers and ranchers to continue producing these commodities sustainably while also providing other environmental benefits such as clean water, healthy soils, sequestering carbon, and habitat for wildlife. https://lnkd.in/gcDsUmZn

🌱 Preserving Land, Protecting Futures 🌾 The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) is more than just a way to care for your land—it’s an investment in the environment and your farm’s future. 🌍 Here's why landowners are choosing CRP: ✅ Soil Health: Reduce erosion and restore nutrients for healthier, more productive soil. ✅ Wildlife Habitat: Create natural sanctuaries for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. ✅ Water Quality: Protect local water supplies by minimizing runoff and reducing pollution. ✅ Financial Incentives: Earn annual rental payments while making a lasting impact on the environment. At Old Drake, we help landowners maximize the benefits of programs like CRP while planning for long-term growth and sustainability. Let's discuss how this program could benefit your land. 📞 Call us at (713) 208-9683 to learn more about how we can help you preserve your farmland and grow your future! #LandConservation #FarmlandDevelopment #SustainableFarming #OldDrake #ConservationReserveProgram

Farmers across the country are dealing with the impacts of #climatechange every day, and many face barriers to adopting #conservation practices that can play a key role in building #climate resilience, such as cost, insecure #landaccess, and lack of technical assistance. As a result, many farmers rely on each other for mentorship and support. We need policy solutions that support the resources farmers already provide each other. The Farmer-to-Farmer Education Act, if included in the next #farmbill, would build support for farmer-led conservation education, connecting farmers with peers to successfully adopt more conservation practices. Join Young Farmers, the American Farmland Trust, the National Wildlife Federation, and the Nature Conservancy on Friday, October 18th at 1pm ET/10am PT for an update and next steps on the farm bill, tips for advocacy in this moment from congressional staff in Rep. Vasquez’s (D-NM) and Rep. Molinaro’s (R-NY) offices, farmer stories, and a Q&A to learn more about how you can take action. Register here: https://lnkd.in/dpQGV5ey

The #woodland in the UK supports some rare, unique and endangered flora, fauna and ecosystems. Caring for woodland can be complex, so professional advice and action is essential. Our professional #arboriculture team creates and implements woodland management plans. We use mechanised plant and harvesting equipment where required, for example when undertaking clearance, thinning and windblown operations. Carefully managing woodland to ensure that it thrives is imperative in not only increasing and protecting #biodiversity, but in maintaining all that they can offer us. Read our top tips on woodland management here: https://lnkd.in/ePcAkziv
