People Development Strategy| Helping people navigate their workplaces using strategic communication

Graduating seniors, gather around!!!! I am about to tell you things that I wish someone told me when my University’s Career Fair was just around the corner To begin with, here’s what you should know Most companies dont go to these career fairs to “hire” They go in to brand and market themself Now that we are clear on that, lets move on to the part where we learn, how to make the best out of this networking event that your university has arranged for you Before the career fair…. Make a list of companies that you want to explore and research about them before hand. Instead of going in and asking them, what they do, go tell them how you are inspired by the work they are doing in the industry they operate in During the career fair…. Don’t sound dumb and lost. Have a 30 second elevator pitch ready and be the conversation starter. Ask for advice and mentorship from the professionals. It’s a way of building a connection with them. After the career fair…. Add every person you spoke with, on LinkedIn. These people are mostly directly or indirectly involved in the hiring process. To sum it up Use this event to build connections, polish yourself to leave an impression and broaden your network Best of luck !! #jobfairs #careerboost #SanaSpeaks
