I generally approach everything with an open mind. Also my nearly eight-year tenure in big tech has helped me overcome the fear of new and emerging technologies. On a deeper level, I strongly believe that technology is a critical component of our human evolution and our ability to envision a better future for ourselves and our planet. The progress we're making in fields like health care, education, the environment, and social impact is astounding. However, I'm also aware of alarming data highlighting the negative impact of these very technologies on our mental health, children, relationships, and overall well-being. I'm attempting to gauge the overall sentiment regarding the subject. What are your present views on technology? 1. Technology makes me feel overwhelmed 2. Technology brings me joy and excitement 3. I feel anxious without technology 4. Technology helps me feel connected 5. I feel dependent on technology 6. Technology makes me feel isolated 7. I'm indifferent about how technology makes me feel Please comment with your choice or thoughts ⬇️ #polltime

In our reality today, I can attest that there's hardly any aspect of human life untouched by the dexterity of technology. • I laugh when I think back to my first job interview where my tech acumen was assessed by my Microsoft Word proficiency. Ah, were those simpler times? 🌍 Now we coexist with AI that creates art, blockchains that transform economies, and an Internet of Things that integrates our devices in complex ways we never thought possible. Pretty astounding considering all this is the result of our relentless pursuit of innovation and problem-solving. Let's not forget, though, that technology is not just about what the latest gadgets can do. It's about its real-life implications, it's about us! - What does it mean to be more connected yet isolated at the same time? - How do we breed innovation while fostering sustainability? - How do we ensure equal access to these mind-boggling advancements that shape the future of our work, play, and live? These are groundbreaking, thought-provoking questions that continues to fuel my passion for this field everyday. But let's stop for a moment and reflect. 🤔 Before we run to keep up with the fast pace of technological innovation, let's pause and consider the social, environmental, and ethical implications of our actions. • What does it mean for technology to not just be 'great', but good? • In our chase for the next big thing, are we diverting focus from resolving chronic societal issues like poverty, inequality, or climate change? Text messages are now preferentially selected over breakfast conversations. Augmented Reality is blurring the tangible with the virtual. Social media has become a theatre of our personas more than a platform for engagement. It's a twofold sword, my friends! Also, whoever thought that 'iPhonethumb' would become a recognized medical condition? I believe it's time we all became active, thoughtful participants in our technological journey. •Work with technology, not for it. •Tread responsibly, considerately. •Strive for technology that betters humanity. Remember, at the heart of every software, every gadget, every technological leap, there's a human like you and me. Technology is built by us, for us. Hence, let's shape it to echo our values, our goals, and most importantly, our collective progress. #technology #progress #humanity #ethics #sustainability #innovation

𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 People are being surprised that their data gets fed into AI, and governmental regulations are trying to catch up- after breaches and providing leverage for positive innovation. If only you have asked yourself the question one year ago. Would it have changed much? In some aspects yes, in other 0. Once you have the realisation, you can change the way you operate and make sure to put yourself & your company in the best position possible while humanising your brand. Everybody can access the same tools, nobody can be you. Build upon values, beliefs, morals and trust. The worldwide web is your playfield now, the only limitation is your limited belief and the opportunities which have not come across your table yet. Have some fun, go and explore, talk with peers and listen to thought leaders. It’s hard to captivate everything that’s happening at such an accelerated speed. We have landed at a pivoting point of disruption. The more overload there is, the more you can lead with surprise and genuinity. Intentional and value driven. Seek for the non-obvious, plant the seeds, harvest when you find alignment where the relationship comes together. While we connect online over passion and goals, the more sparks in-person experiences bring. Be sure to understand how you design those moments, making you more fulfilled and closer to your goals as a unity- adding the human layer to your community. At the end of the day alignment, grit, resilience, belonging and impact are the things that make you grow, feel whole, and deliver long lasting value. #strategy #futureofwork #ai #tech #disruption …… 👋 I’m Gina, founder of Driftawave If you’re curious how a workation / offsite could help you come closer to the above- we are happy to help.

🚀 Let's talk about technology for a sec. It's everywhere, right? From our smartphones to our smart homes, it's like we're living in a sci-fi movie every day. But here's the kicker - how often do we stop to think about the impact all this tech has on our lives? 💭 🔍 We're constantly connected, always plugged in, and sometimes it feels like we're losing touch with what it means to be human. Are we becoming more isolated in a world that's more interconnected than ever before? 🌐 🔥 Technology has the power to revolutionize industries, transform economies, and shape the future of humanity. But with great power comes great responsibility. Are we using technology for the betterment of society, or are we letting it control us? 🌍 🤖 Automation and artificial intelligence are changing the way we work, learn, and live. But as machines become more intelligent, do we risk losing our own ingenuity and creativity in the process? 🧠 🌟 Let's not forget the ethical dilemmas that come with technological advancements. Are we sacrificing our privacy and security for the sake of convenience and innovation? How do we balance progress with protecting our fundamental rights and values? 🛡️ 👨💻 It's a wild, wild world out there in the realm of tech. But one thing's for sure - we can't afford to be passive spectators. It's time to engage, question, and shape the future we want to see. Because when it comes to technology, the possibilities are endless - if we have the courage to dream and the wisdom to guide our choices. 💡 🚀 So, here's a challenge for you: How can we harness the power of technology to create a more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive world for all? Let's start the conversation and see where it takes us. Are you in? 💬 #Technology #Innovation #Future #Ethics #Sustainability #AI #Automation #Privacy #Empowerment

UBI vs UBC: Quite the conundrum indeed. I do think that top 5% wealthiest is arbitrary There are countries like the current PRC where being a Jack Ma doesn't protect you from misalignment with the political class; and there are quite a few other nations where political influence can be parlayed INTO massive wealth accumulation/control using advanced, underlying tech as a leveraged springboard and/or well-defended moat. Good luck trying to convince individual voters that the power dynamics are fair and can't be either fudged or finagled.

Riddle me this. At least 75% on LinkedIn seem pretty excited about the latest ‘remarkable advancement in GenAI’. At least half of them seem to think we are on the edge of a precipice of a massive technical revolution that will render most work unnecessary and usher in endless productivity and prosperity. So, how can the same people cheer for UBI and UBC? How can endless prosperity and subsistence handouts from the government coexist? If we usher in endless productivity and businesses grow in leaps and bounds - how come we can’t fill our own plates? UBI doesn’t just mean that people need support. It means that society functions in a way where there are hard caps on how much people can earn and what kind of jobs they can get. Do the people that support AI everywhere and AGI imagine themselves outside the bracket of the people that need UBI? Newsflash. If you aren’t in the top 5% of the wealthiest globally, you will be lining up with the rest of us for monthly rations. Do these people even understand what they are supporting? Or, are these just endless bot accounts repeating the same messages creating a self-perpetuating feedback loop?

He argues they are often overhyped by the media, which tends to overlook their failures and the real (negative!) impact of their companies. Instead of holding them accountable, journalists help create an image of these leaders as visionaries, giving them even more power and influence. 🤓 Putting my psychologist hat on, Zitron’s piece got me thinking about why we tend to mythologize tech leaders like Musk, Zuckerberg and Altman - seeing them as larger-than-life figures. 🤗 They offer simple, visionary solutions to complex problems - solutions that are principally easy to understand (AI is the answer!) which is particularly appealing when times feel uncertain. 🤑 People are drawn to their charisma and apparent success, preferring stories that frame their achievements as the result of personal brilliance, even though luck and timing often play a significant role. 😇 Ultimately, the “genius” myth endures because it provides a clear and inspiring narrative that feels reassuring and easy to believe. This dynamic isn’t just limited to tech; it’s also seen in populist politics. Maybe that is why some of the tech leaders and politicians get along really well? 👉 If these thoughts resonate check out Zitron’s newsletter - it’s a perfect longer (weekend) read. Called on the carpet and long overdue. There has been a complete and wholesale catastrophic failure of ethics and responsibility to society by big tech billionaires. Even if the mass harm they have caused on global, national, and individual scales was unintentional - once confronted with it instead of jumping in to use their power to help fix their mess, [paraphrasing from a recent interview with Swisher] - they have retreated into their wealth focused on building their escape plans for themselves. This is not a culture of innovation, it is a culture of narcissistic "burn it all down" ideas about institutions and society that has nothing to do with challenging status quo or fixing broken systems but rather "disruption" for destruction and we are all paying for it - except them. I hope people are finally learning how to see the difference between those in tech that are focused on continuous improvement and evolution for good vs those who have hoarded power and wealth for themselves and could care less about anything else so we can move on from idolizing the latter and start lifting the former. (in case it isn't clear - not a fan of tech bro culture) https://lnkd.in/evy3MhKB

🌍 The World is Changing Fast—But Here’s What No One is Talking About… We’re living in an age of unprecedented change. AI, climate change, shifting economies—it feels like everything is moving at lightning speed. But while everyone’s focused on the latest trends and disruptions, there’s one crucial conversation we’re not having enough: How do we keep our humanity in a world driven by technology? Think about it. Every new app, every automation, every algorithm is designed to make life more efficient—but what happens to human connection? To creativity? To the sense of community that makes life meaningful? Here’s what I believe: The future isn’t just about how fast we can innovate. It’s about how we can build technology that enhances our human experience, not replaces it. 🧠 Tech should empower us to be more creative. 💡 Innovation should help us solve human problems, not create distance. ❤️ We need to stay connected to what makes us human—empathy, curiosity, connection. The world is changing, but we have a choice in how we shape that future. Let’s make sure we don’t lose sight of the human spirit as we move forward. 🌱 What do you think the future holds? How do we keep tech human-centered? Share your thoughts below!👇 #FutureOfWork #HumanCenteredTech #Innovation #HumanConnection #Empathy #TechnologyAndHumanity

10moI feel anxious and dependent on technology. I feel like technology does allow more freedom and equality but it is hard not to think that more people are using it for the shallow aspects of life. It feels like it should have made more of us feel more fulfillled, healthier and more connected in a real community based way. It seems like it is giving us a false sense of improvement in those areas while truly make us more isolated, sick and depressed?
