On behalf of everyone, everywhere (I'm looking at you HelloFresh) please stop putting marketing budget into sending people door to door. Particularly when it's dark outside. Please stop. 5pm is the worst time to try and catch me when I'm not busy. 7pm? Even worse.

Agreed. I actually had a charity worker at my door when I was alone with my children one night, he was asking how old my children are and how many children I have at home at around 6.30pm on a dark night. I ended up reporting it to the police because when I called Acorns children’s charity, they said they don’t do door knocking. Turned out they did but the charity didn’t communicate with each other. It was very uncomfortable for me though and left me with concerns all night about my children’s safety

Door-to-door sales was my first job when I moved to the UK (not to Hello Fresh), but as annoying as it is to have someone at your door trying to sell you something, working in these environments is even worse. At least at the company I worked for. It's a weird kind of multilevel company where you need to recruit people, train them ON THE STREET, and then sell over the target yourself. You're expected to show up at the "office" every day, where you'll get the lamest coach pep talk ever, with everyone in formal dress. You're expected to pay for transportation, food, and everything else. It doesn't matter if it's summer or winter, sunny or rainy. And because I lasted less than a week (I got a better job!), they never actually paid me for my time—as they said they would on the interview. Anyway, can you tell it really burnt me out in a ridiculous amount of time? lol

This is why I love my camera doorbell. You're not holding a package? Then I don't need to come to the door.

Now I'm confused about which is the worst time. What is worse than the worst? Is it so bad it's come back to good again?

"No I know how to shop and cook" I don't get it, honestly. HF is for morons. Recipes are free on the internet and the ingredients can be found much cheaper.

For this reason I no longer donate to Battersea Dog and Cat Home and will never, ever, buy Community Fibre nor Talk Talk. I'm in sales myself, but I feel that door-to-door is too much of an invasion - and given GDPR laws, I can't sell to the general public anyway without consent. So, why people are allowed to turn up at my door, sometimes quite aggressively, is beyond me.

omg they came round ours yesterday and we literally had to put our sleeping baby down to go answer the door to tell them to go away

I help agencies sell more. Plus, I'm quite funny...

I have a bit of trauma from a previous living situation a few years ago. Unexpected people at my door in the dark is never not terrifying. Also, given what I do (I help people sell better), it infuriates me when I discover it's somebody trying to sell me stuff!

And chuggers. Sick of chuggers. We were getting 5 different charities a week knocking on the door 3 times a day. I live in a VERY deprived area, so it's interesting that these charities (slash 'marketing agencies') always seem to inundate the poorer areas. I got a No Cold Callers sign for my door and that put a stop to the Chuggers - and Modern Milkman - who kept knocking on begging for money. I also make a point to not donate to charities that hire door-to-door Chuggers, nor do I use the services of those that come to my door to shill me products and services. I find it's an intrusion.

I was on holiday in Philadelphia two weeks ago and got a knock on the door of our AirBnB from Hello Fresh, although to be fair the guy had some good tourist recommendations and was very friendly.
