Each year nearly 5,000 exchange participants come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government. Launched in 1940, the IVLP helps strengthen U.S. engagement with countries around the world and cultivate lasting relationships by connecting current and emerging foreign leaders with their American counterparts through short-term visits to the United States. The majority of IVLP exchanges include visits to four U.S. communities over three weeks, although projects vary based on themes, Embassy requests and other factors. #UnitedLatinas UNITED LATINAS Europe Although I find myself a lone wolf in this chapter I wanted to go ahead and share some statistics for potential growth. According to the World Migration Report from the International Organization for Migration of the UN, the United States has remained a consistent and most popular destination for Latinos since 1970. However, in recent years Europe and Asia have experienced a bigger influx of immigrants from Latin America, with Germany being the second biggest migrant destination, with Spain being number one. There are 24 official languages in Europe however Spanish is only spoken in Spain. Although Latin migrants have increased in France, Portugal, and Italy as well. According to the 2024 Edition of Demography of Europe, there are 5% more women than men. As of 2022 there were 7.0 million people who immigrated to Europe. Bridging the Gap: Unlocking Public Service Innovation for Indo-Pacific Development Last week, I was honoured to be an expert panel member for the Indo-Pacific Executive Leadership course run by Asialink Business for the Australian Public Service Training Academy. 🌏📚 Key Insights: 🧠 There are many intelligent individuals with great ideas that could benefit our Indo-Pacific neighbours. 🚫 Currently, there is no channel for these innovative ideas to be heard or considered by Australia's foreign affairs department, which designs aid activities. This lack of a platform is a significant barrier to progress. 📋 Each project presented was of high quality and deserving of discussions with relevant nations to gauge interest. 🏦 The Australian aid system is missing out on the valuable expertise of public servants due to existing bottlenecks. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and have offered to participate again. I believe there would be significant benefit to everyone if a mechanism was created to consider and support these ideas further. Has anyone else faced a similar situation where great ideas lack a pathway for implementation? Society Doesn’t Accept Young Leaders Cause of what Young Leaders who have gone before us have done, Dear Leaders We Get Experience will always be a Factor in discussion but I am afraid if we substitute it in every conversation Zambia will have young leaders who fought to be leaders in their youth and didn’t become until they were out of their youth Leaving us with no young leaders at home, To our Leaders who have gone before us 1. Don’t Look at Young leaders has puppets or competition but allies, We don’t want the whole cake we want a piece of it for the country’s Benefit 2.We Want to Learn as Much as we Have the ideas you have the Experience teach Us, but don’t submit we want to lead young, While at it give us platforms 3.Let’s Not define young leaders by the current representation we have as all will behave like that in this time, young minds understand the revolving world better To my fellow young leaders, 1. #Throwback November 26, 2023 Leadership in Africa Forum brought to you by Central Leadership Program and proudly sponsored by TEMPLE ADVISORY will be one of the unforgettable experiences Fellow Kekeli Amenu and I, Caleb Yeboah have had in our leadership career. Hosting the program seem daunting from the beginning but later got very interesting with the support from #FellowFellows, #BoEs, #Friends and #Family, #Mentors, and Infact everyone. The #theme for discussion was, “Embracing our African Identity; How that Influences Transformational Leadership.” We hosted close to 30 young adults between the ages of 19 - 30 years on the meeting. The discussion resonated deeply with them and stirred up their minds to reflect on #1 the current state of Leadership in our country, #2 How much they know about themselves, as Africans, potentials all around them and #3 finally how we all can function effectively as leaders wherever we find ourselves to cause a bigger transformation. What I personally learnt from the entire discussion was that Change begins with us. Just as Lee Kuan Yew lead the transformation of Singapore, so can #One idea, #One Person, #One conversation bring about a massive transformation. We need not to wait till we get to the top to influence change. We need to #influence change now. Embracing the true sense of ourselves, Our #Identity, promotes #nationalistic interests other than self and personalized interests seen in all areas of government, institutional and private owned firms. The closing submissions of the participants sounded like the roar of Oliver Twist paraphrased, they want more of such forums to lift them up and encourage them to do great wherever they find themselves.
