#Throwback November 26, 2023 Leadership in Africa Forum brought to you by Central Leadership Program and proudly sponsored by TEMPLE ADVISORY will be one of the unforgettable experiences Fellow Kekeli Amenu and I, Caleb Yeboah have had in our leadership career. Hosting the program seem daunting from the beginning but later got very interesting with the support from #FellowFellows, #BoEs, #Friends and #Family, #Mentors, and Infact everyone. The #theme for discussion was, “Embracing our African Identity; How that Influences Transformational Leadership.” We hosted close to 30 young adults between the ages of 19 - 30 years on the meeting. The discussion resonated deeply with them and stirred up their minds to reflect on #1 the current state of Leadership in our country, #2 How much they know about themselves, as Africans, potentials all around them and #3 finally how we all can function effectively as leaders wherever we find ourselves to cause a bigger transformation. What I personally learnt from the entire discussion was that Change begins with us. Just as Lee Kuan Yew lead the transformation of Singapore, so can #One idea, #One Person, #One conversation bring about a massive transformation. We need not to wait till we get to the top to influence change. We need to #influence change now. Embracing the true sense of ourselves, Our #Identity, promotes #nationalistic interests other than self and personalized interests seen in all areas of government, institutional and private owned firms. The closing submissions of the participants sounded like the roar of Oliver Twist paraphrased, they want more of such forums to lift them up and encourage them to do great wherever they find themselves. Hoping to come your way with more forums like this Family. Thank you enjoy this piece. #Leadership #Africa #Ghana #CLP

I guess everyone has that one defining moment in their leadership journey, and mine was both unique and emotional. When I went to Africa, I had certain expectations about the culture, but the reality was humbling. It taught me the importance of humility in leadership and strengthened my belief that everyone has a voice and should be heard. Working with the team and engaging with the communities in Africa crystallised this belief. I realised that true leadership isn’t about authority but about connecting with people on a human level. Sitting with a mother, father, or artisanal miner and having open, genuine conversations showed me that leadership is about inclusivity and understanding. I fell in love with the country and its people, who were so genuinely helpful and authentic. Being called the "Mother of Guinea" was a powerful reminder of the responsibility that I have. It affirmed my commitment to leading with empathy, connection, and genuine care for those I work with, even from a distance. Dear young people rise up to leadership positions if we wanna change the political landscape of Africa. I strongly believe young leaders are frequently more sensitive to the interests and ambitions of their fellow citizens. This sympathetic knowledge can result in policies that are not only responsive but also resonate with the general public, fostering a sense of legitimacy and trust in the government institutions. The growth of young leaders in strategic positions will provide a model for leadership succession. We will provide a good example for others by exhibiting expertise, honesty, and dedication to public service, including current leaders who may be hesitant to stand down. We can demonstrate that a smooth transfer of power is not only feasible, but also advantageous to the nation's progress. #FreeAfrica

🌍 **Advocating for Transformational Leadership: From Rhetoric to Sustainable Nation-Building** Over 60 years of independence, many African nations have been carried away by rhetoric and lofty promises, yet we often lack the systems and structures needed for true development. It's time for a shift in mindset—from excitement and enthusiasm to deep knowledge, mentorship, and strategic planning. To overcome rhetoric and engage in nation-building, we must focus on: 📚 **Education & Knowledge Transfer**: Leadership training, mentorship, and skill acquisition should be key priorities to equip future leaders with the tools needed to build strong nations. 🏛️ **Institutional Development**: We need sustainable systems and structures that can outlast individual leaders. Charismatic leadership alone is not enough. 📊 **Strategic Planning**: Data-driven, long-term planning should replace emotional or short-term political gains. The future of Africa depends on practical, sustainable solutions. 🤝 **Mentorship**: True leadership starts with mentorship, moving from enthusiasm to wisdom, and from knowledge to actionable results. It’s time for African nations to move beyond empty promises and focus on building resilient institutions and effective leadership. The future of our continent depends on it. #Leadership #Mentorship #NationBuilding #SustainableDevelopment #TransformationalLeadership #Africa #InstitutionalDevelopment #StrategicPlanning #Education #KnowledgeTransfer #FutureOfAfrica

In January 2004, I had a profound ‘bucket list’ experience in South Africa. Travel has always fueled me with new perspectives and insights, but some moments truly shape and shake us. Visiting Robben Island, I stood in the tiny cell where Nelson Mandela spent nearly two decades. It was impossible to imagine even a week in that cell, let alone years. Yet, despite such isolation and hardship, Mandela emerged to lead South Africa’s journey to unity from a place of deep authenticity and conviction. His leadership exemplified staying rooted in personal values and purpose—proof that real leadership grows from within. For today’s leaders, the principles remain. What has shaped you? What values and strengths anchor you? Imagine leadership like a tree: your values, strengths, and personality are the roots. Strong roots create resilience, helping you stand tall during storms and stay true to who you are. Mandela’s story reminds us to start with “who” we are. Investing in self-discovery and clarifying values creates a stable foundation for impactful leadership. 🌳 To read the full blog go to: https://lnkd.in/gdqER_MG #RealLeadership #AuthenticLeadership #LeadwithPurpose #LeadWithValues #LeadershipAlignment #ThePowerofWho

I just returned from two transformative weeks in Vietnam and Cambodia, where unforgettable landscapes sparked powerful leadership insights. In Vietnam, I learned that control is often an illusion—whether navigating unexpected twists on the Mekong or crossing Hanoi’s crowded streets—I had to let go and trust the journey. This experience reminded me that true leadership sometimes means embracing uncertainty with confidence. Cambodia's rich history and culture, reinforced the importance of honoring the past to move forward, as well as the power of connection that transcends words. It was truly a journey of growth, resilience, and connection, with lessons that will stay with me for a lifetime. How might letting go of control and honoring the past deepen your own leadership journey? #leadership #travel #executivecoach #leadershipskills #executivecoaching #coaching #leader #execcoach #travelblog #cambodia #vietnam #inclusion #leadershipcoach #leadershipcoaching #leadershiptips #business #leadershipdevelopment #growth #success #connection #happiness #culture#women #emotionalintelligence #selfawareness #wellness
