Why Microsoft and Other Tech Giants Are Betting Big on Bangladesh Yesterday, I visited NetCom Learning’s new location in Gulshan, Dhaka, and met our newly hired team of 36 talented professionals. The energy in Dhaka is inspiring—ambitious teams, innovative ideas, and a shared drive to create something extraordinary. It’s no wonder global tech giants like Microsoft, AWS, Google, and even AI CERTs are focusing their efforts here. I’m truly grateful to Tim May, Jamie Armanini Martins, Avik Choudhury, Geoff Hirsch & Scott Emigh for their incredible support in helping us expand globally. Their contributions are not only driving our success in UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, and Bangladesh but also highlighting why Bangladesh is rapidly emerging as a critical destination for global tech investment. Collaborating with Microsoft APAC on skilling initiatives has shown me how much potential can be unlocked by empowering local talent. During my visit, our GM of Global Operations, Abdul Ahad, met with Yousup Faruqu, Microsoft’s Country Managing Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal. They had an insightful discussion on how to train over a million Bangladeshis in Microsoft technologies—an initiative perfectly aligned with the country’s growing demand for skilled tech professionals. Here are 5 key reasons why global tech companies are betting big on Bangladesh: 1. Booming Digital Economy: Bangladesh’s ICT sector is projected to reach $5 billion in exports by 2025. Initiatives like Digital Bangladesh provide fertile ground for cloud services, AI, and IT infrastructure. 2. Young and Skilled Workforce: With 65% of the population under 35, Bangladesh boasts a massive talent pool. The country is already the second-largest global hub for freelancers, proving its potential. During my visit, I was amazed to see how eager and talented the workforce in Dhaka is, with so many already making a global impact. 3. Cloud and AI Adoption: Startups, enterprises, and even public services are embracing digital transformation. This presents a golden opportunity for AWS, Google, and Microsoft to lead in cloud and AI solutions. 4. Strategic Location: As a gateway to South and Southeast Asia, Bangladesh provides access to major markets like India and ASEAN countries, making it an ideal hub for regional expansion. 5. Government Support: With tax breaks, high-tech parks, and an unwavering commitment to digital transformation, Bangladesh is making it easy for investors to succeed. For us at NetCom Learning and AI CERTs, Bangladesh is a critical building block in our broader APAC expansion strategy. We are focusing on Microsoft and AI CERTs offerings, leveraging what we’ve learned in the U.S. to succeed in the APAC market. Our strong relationships with Microsoft will be pivotal to achieving success in Bangladesh, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and India. We ended the day with a team dinner at Sonargaon Hotel’s restaurant—a perfect opportunity to reflect on our shared vision for growth.
