You probably don’t think much about the driver’s license in your wallet. But for many in the villages we serve, becoming trained and licensed drivers is life-changing. See the difference driver’s education is making for Paul in one Egyptian village. #licenseddriver #driver #technicallyequip #takeheart #education #incomegeneratingproject

#HOW #MUCH costs #DRIVER #LICENSE in 🇪🇺 It is spectacular to see how different the costs of getting driver license are in individual markets. 🔂 In EU there is free market of goods and services, so you are free to buy from any EU country, which often leads to prices of goods converging to similar prices, because customers can do arbitrage, if things cost significantly less/more in some regions. ⚠️ Howerer, then there are few (usually mainly) services that are isolated in purchase and bounded to local geography and/or language, that hold price immunity. 🚍 Such as the driver license costs that are not only bound to local language (you need to take course and exam in) and to local legislation. But it is stunning that even in fully language compatible 🇦🇹 the 🇩🇪would pay only 1/3 of their home market price. #driverlicense #eu #commonmarket #prices

An article in a Victorian news feed pushing for more driver safety education in schools!!! In 2020 a taxpayer funded Parliamentary Inquiry recommended the Victorian Government conduct a 12month trial of myDRIVESCHOOL® - designed specifically at the school/education sector, but 3 years later nothing has eventuated. Not sure how many more teenagers have to die before something is done? From a 2016 case study we did, 264 people aged 17-25yo were killed on the road, and 23 drowned. Yet there's 6 years of mandatory swimming lessons in every primary school (paid for by parents $80-120pa), and absolutely no driver training in high schools. Despite the above, schools don't believe road safety education is their responsibility. So parents, with 20-30 years of bad habits, bear the responsibility (as they can't afford the cost of 120hours of lessons) and try to teach their kids how to drive. And people wonder why the fatality rate of 18-20yo’s is over double that of the national average. Current legislation forces unqualified people to train minors, for statistically, the most dangerous activity/period of their lives. The system requires immediate action (not more theory/research), to help teenagers become competent and confident drivers. This is the whole basis of myDRIVESCHOOL® - our users rated 48% more competent & 17% less anxious, all done in a safe, controlled, digital environment. Why do we have a fixation on Sweden and their road toll? WE ARE NOT SWEEDEN AND TO EVEN GET DRIVERS TO THEIR STANDARDS (INCLUDING INSTRUCTORS) THERE IS A BUTTLOAD OF WORK TO DO. remember.. we hand licences out, they educate people, trying to beging writing new courses that are a bit more exciting than what we have which is honestly, lame. see photos following.. I want to ask you.. NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi what new licencing rules / courses and contingencies are you putting in to bring drivers to their standard?.. come on guys - compare apples with apples not a part of their solution hoping we can replicate their results while taking shortcuts and ignoring the obvious - courses and cost, expectation of standards. see photos attached. https://lnkd.in/gnYtKjcD

When it comes to road safety and young people, everyone has an opinion. It doesn’t help when you base your reasoning for change on complaints from constituents, about speeding drivers, high performance rental vehicles, off-road motorbikes, quad bikes, dangerous parking and reckless driving. Parliament is currently debating changes to the post-test driving licence. The changes have cross-party political support and are supported by the AA, RAC, Association of British Insurers, IAM, NMC, Project Edward, UK Road Offender Education (UKROEd) and the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety. The proposed changes are aimed at providing a proportionate, evidence-led and effective way to ‘significantly reduce road traffic collisions’. Herein lies the problem. Everyone assumes they have the ‘evidence’ and that the solution proposed will achieve its goal...more

https://lnkd.in/eviWbdta Interesting piece on upcoming legislation. The major problem with young motorcycle rider fatalities and serious injuries, < 18 years, is that at least 40% are underage and others probably don't have licences - 2022 Government casualty figures. They tend to be classed as a nuisance rather than vulnerable children. Now add to this the new threat - a dozen E-Scooter fatalities/annum and 1,000s of injuries many probably unreported (Government report last December). The average age of an E-Scooter rider is 16 years. They should never have been allowed to be sold in the UK as they are illegal - the argument that they are sold for use on private land is a transparent sham - you'd need a country estate. Even then they are inherently hazardous to ride. This is essentially a parental and policing problem, and the public needs to be made aware of this. 'Young Rider Schemes' are also virtually non-existent, as opposed to 'Young Drivers'.

A driver licence is more than just a permit to drive a vehicle. It allows access to a range of social and economic benefits. Those lacking a licence may find it harder to find a job, access education and training, and participate in other aspects of society. Over the past two years, Rationale have been working closely alongside Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and a range of Agency partners and stakeholders as part of the Driver Licensing Improvement Programme (DLIP). DLIP has set up a long-term programme of work that will see a range of improvements to driver licences over the coming years. These have included: · More driver testing officers · More driver test routes · More mobile theory testing · Better regional support This mahi has set a new standard for cross-agency collaboration, seeing relationships built between agencies that have been enduring outside of the programme. The development of the cross-agency collaboration alongside an evidence-based business case has led to a high level of support from decision makers. https://lnkd.in/gfKFNv6P

Novice drivers stalled by anxiety: WSP study A WSP in New Zealand study commissioned by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) has highlighted the barriers hindering novice drivers in Aotearoa New Zealand's Graduated Driver Licensing System (GDLS). Unknown until now, one of the most significant issues revealed by the study is anxiety when learning to drive and being tested for a full licence. Conducted by road safety and behavioural science experts from WSP Research, the study also identified cost and car access issues as obstacles delaying peoples' progress through licensing stages. According to the study's findings, nearly one-third of novice drivers face challenges advancing from their learners to full licence. Anxiety was one of the study’s surprising findings - affecting people’s ability to pass licence tests and manage driving tasks - especially among those with disabilities. To make anxiety less of an issue, WSP technical director for human factors research Jared Thomas says having a support person to help navigate the licensing system is important. So is more one-on-one time with an instructor. #NoviceDrivers #DriverAnxiety #WSPStudy #WakaKotahi #NZTA #GraduatedLicensing #DrivingBarriers #AotearoaDrivers #RoadSafety #DriverTraining #SupportForDrivers #LicensingChallenges #DrivingTestAnxiety #NewZealandDrivers #WSPResearch #SafeDriving #DrivingEducation #GDLSChallenges #DriverSupport #AnxietyInDrivers #iranzresearch https://lnkd.in/gr2EzrEG

The start of the school year often means teens (and parents) begin thinking about getting that driver license. If you're thinking about using the #ParentTaught #driver education method, here's how to get started: https://lnkd.in/gd9rqD_y
