4 years ago, at the International Wellness Enclave, I stood there in my sharp blue suit, rocking a long beard that probably made me look more like a philosopher than a strategist. And I boldly predicted the future of wellness services in the hospitality sector. Fast forward to today—guess what? The industry is walking the very path I outlined. From personalized wellness programs to integrating mental wellbeing into spa experiences, the shift has been seismic (and exactly what I forecasted). Did the suit and beard combo sell the vision back then? Maybe. "Working from home" 🤷💻 Let's focus on the wellbeing part. We definitely have to establish good routines to ensure that we don't lapse in unhealthy behaviour. Hmm..some simple practices that helps - good sleep, eat healthy at regular times, avoid snacking, regular short breaks, 5 to 10 minutes to make a coffee and keeping regular times for starting & ending work and most importantly workout!!🏃♀️➡️🏃♂️➡️ Well, home workers usually feel isolated and withdraw from team dynamics, which can lead to stress and anxiety. Most importantly, we need to make sure that we stay mentally and physically healthy. Socialise, group work out like Yoga classes, fitness clubs, Gyms, go for early morning or evening walk, weekends out to swimming pools, beach, time out with friends.. there is a lot we can do to cultivate a sense of belonging. We can have a chat about your wellbeing, for sure a solution to help you and your employees 'managing stress' and solitude. These days the nature of work is such that you end up spending long hours in front of the screen, sometimes making it difficult to maintain the energy to deal with uncertain, complex, and high stakes situations. Tinkering with small habits in between work is a great way to totally amp up your productivity game. During my initial days of leading teams, I thought I could do it all. I was working for long hours, and when I wasn’t at work, I was responding to texts and emails all the time. I didn’t realize at the moment that I was burning out quickly. That’s when one of my mentors pulled me aside to point out that corporate efficiency isn’t all about grand overhauls; but it’s more to do with strategic tweaks. Start by identifying micro-habits that align with your goals - perhaps it’s a five-minute mindfulness break to reset and center yourself or practicing deep breathing exercises to reduce stress and mental fatigue. These seemingly insignificant actions do create a ripple effect, amplifying focus and efficiency throughout the day. With the workforce in UAE gearing up to return to the office after a rejuvenating Eid break, indulging in small healthy habits could offer you a valuable framework for easing back into the rhythm of work.
