It's a weird time to be a writer. The survival of the field in the age of AI will boil down to one crucial trait: A willingness to adapt. Most "traditional writing careers" are on the decline: -Print journalism -Legacy publishing -Copywriting There will, of course, be individual success stories in each field listed above, but on the whole, it is getting more difficult to build a career in these areas. This does NOT, however, mean writing as a whole is becoming de-valued. In fact, I'd argue writing is more in demand than ever for things such as: -Newsletters -Video scripts -Social media AI can do all of these at a basic level, but its ability to synthesize information into captivating stories is still severely lacking. Learning how to USE AI is another way to stay ahead of the curve. Someone has to write the prompts used to generate AI images and videos. Sticking to "the old ways" may feel like a romantic stand against technology, but it's not. It's a way to ensure you'll be out of a job in a few years. Writers: our skills are still in demand. We just have to get creative on where we use them. #writing #AI #technology #future

In my opinion, AI is going to go one of four ways... 1. AI content will prevail, leading to an increase of jobs for editors, and less work for us writers. 2. AI editing software will prevail, leading to an increase of jobs for writers, and less work for editors. 3. AI software and content will prevail, leading to fewer jobs for both editors and writers 4. AI software will run its course, leading to more jobs for both editors and writers. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be number four in the long run, but in the coming months, I'm beginning to feel a little concern as to which of the first two will happen first! My best advice: Writers, get sharpening your editing skills; editors, get sharpening your writing skills. Whichever companies hire to work alongside AI will likely need both of these skills to be successful. #Editors #Editing #EditingTips #AIContent #Writers #Writing #Contentwriting #Writingtips #writingadvice

In the age of AI, writing is the most important skill Its all about how well can you articulate your thoughts We've all seen the posts where hiring managers are impressed when they see a candidates profile that "they can google well". Soon that's going to be "they can give good prompts to AI tools" But what does it take to be a great "googler" or "prompt giver"? You guessed it right. Writing When you can articulate your thoughts well, you can tell a machine learning language what you want it do, you will get desired results. But it is not restricted to prompt giving only, writing will help you frame your thoughts well. Writing daily will help you regulate your emotions, track your goals or for people like me grow on platforms like LinkedIn and so much more I have been writing for more than a month and that has had such a positive impact on my life, not only as a creative person but also in my emotion regulation. P.S. what are some tips you use to be a better writer #writing

I’ve been observing #recruiters increasingly add this line to their #job posts: not looking for #AI experts, only human #writers. Now, I firmly believe that a piece of #content must be authentic and unique, but from a marketing or comms PoV, comparing these two roles sets a perilous precedent for the future of content creation. First off, an AI expert and a writer are not always the same people. But even if they are, considering the transformation both of these professionals are going under—I don’t see why they should be forced to be mutually exclusive, especially in the content marketing landscape. There is no reason why a writer cannot avail the support of AI tools. This kind of artificial divide is detrimental for both professionals and seems to say that a writer is not capable of editing, fact checking, etc. to use #GenAI and still be able to produce an impactful copy. Not to mention, it can also lead to exploitation, where writers may be undervalued or pressured to produce copious amounts of content without the support of AI tools. (The same job posts also mention: expected to write 2,500 words per day). Now, we can discuss about the degree of usage and editing. But I hope we aren’t operating under the false assumption that we always provide adequate time or liberty to writers to create something from scratch. More often than not, us, writers, turn around copies in little to no time—and we all know that! So, trying to force GenAI out of the picture only seems like we’re further institutionaling exploitation of writers. And that is simply not acceptable! #writers #writing #jobpost #contentmarketing #AItools #recruitment

It’s important for writers to infuse their own voice and style into every piece of writing. Besides personal creative pride, doing so is what sets an article - and the writer - apart from everything else out there. And sure, publications each have their own house tone and style, but there’s always going to be room within those parameters for writers to express themselves. For example, I used to read Grantland and its (not-as-good, frankly) successor The Ringer every day. And while I’m the kind of voracious reader who would easily read almost every basketball article, one writer stood out to me: Shea Serrano. His brand of laid-back excitement - I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but it’s possible - stuck with me, touching me or making me laugh, depending on the subject matter. (His writing was so good it didn’t even matter that he's a San Antonio Spurs fan.) This also applies to branded content. The ideal branded article is so educational and entertaining that the reader doesn’t care that it’s been paid for, and it’s the writer’s job - and opportunity, to create - to make it so, by putting their personal stamp on it, whether it’s with words or the angle. The article being unique and standing out also helps the client’s cause, and so here we have the “virtuous trinity” concept I introduced before, where all three of the client, reader, and creative are happier as a result of the collaboration. Anyway, “so educational and entertaining” was my entire thought process when I penned the piece I’m sharing today, which was for IMDA and HR tech firm Impress.ai. I’m grateful to both organizations for being game enough to set up the experience for me, and this article is just one example of the magic that can happen when clients and creatives trust each other and truly work together. #writing #brandedcontent #personalvoice #style

Pick a newly created human editor position and run with it . . . If you're an editor, be proactive and chose one of the titles in this post for your resume or online profile right now. Don’t let yourself get steamrolled. Stay relevant. Case in point: Bloomberg reported the “entry to an entirely new profession” with job postings for an “AI Prompt Engineer/AI Whisperer” to coax AI output/responses, with an annual salary of 325K. The sub-headline for its article: “The fast-growing apps have created a seller’s market for anyone — even liberal arts grads — capable of manipulating its output.” "The hottest new programming language is English," Andrej Karpathy, Tesla's former chief of AI, said in a tweet in January 2023. I couldn’t make this up if I tried. #aicontent #aicontentcreation #aicopywriting #recuiting #editing #writingjobs https://lnkd.in/eC4sEWab

#HiringAlert: #AI is the pebble, not the crow! Fellow writers, AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s the pebble in the thirsty crow story. The pebbles didn’t do the work for him... they just made it easier. AI works the same way. It’s not going to come up with your ideas or write your masterpiece, but it can handle the repetitive stuff (research, editing, brainstorming), so you can focus on the good parts. Moral: AI isn’t here to replace you. It’s here to help you do your best work faster. Annnd.... if you're a writer who loves the idea of working smarter (and making a real impact), we’re hiring. Come write with us, and maybe let AI do the grunt work? When AI started making waves, I was skeptical at first. How could a computer program match human creativity in writing? But, I soon realized AI wasn't here to replace us; it was here to boost our skills. After diving into AI tools, it became my ace as a ghostwriter. Here's how I elevate my writing game: 1. Brainstorming Ideas: Being a ghostwriter means nailing innovative ideas for clients. Brainstorming is my jam, and it's where AI shines. 2. The Power of Collaboration: Collaboration is key for brainstorming. Team up, bounce ideas around, and watch magic happen! AI supports this by suggesting keywords, phrases, and related topics. 3. Refining my Writing: While I pride myself on being a top-notch writer, there's always room for improvement. AI helps me refine my writing by providing suggestions for sentence structure, vocabulary, and grammar. 4. Time-Saving Magic: As a busy professional, time is of the essence. With AI taking care of some of the heavy lifting in my writing process, I have more time to focus on other tasks. 5. Personalization at its Best: One fear with using AI is losing the personal touch in writing. But with customizable settings and the ability to train AI to mimic your style, you can still infuse your unique voice into your work. Would I recommend AI over hiring a professional ghostwriter? That ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. AI can provide quick and efficient assistance, but a professional ghostwriter can offer a more personalized touch and deeper understanding of your writing goals. Some organisations are approaching with a #hiring tag, just because they cannot wrap their heads around idleness, it seems! The other day I was approached by a #company. They also conducted a #test that was through their portal, with an MCQ-based #questionnaire . I have answered them. They were to test my #grammar, #syntax, and #semantic sense, and not that hard to complete though. However, just after I submitted the assessment, and let the sip of black coffee seep into my senses, I got a reply, and guess what? I was rejected!!! Then I discovered that this company has played the same game with many other writers previously. What do you think these companies are up to? Okay! They are stealing #data! But is there any other hidden mission lurking within their sinister ploy? Are they also using your skills to complete their clients' #tasks for free? Content writers, and others, look before you LEAP!!! #contentwriting #contentwriter #mindrift #assessment #randomcompanies #AI #AIfirms #AItutor #contentwriter #writer #evaluation #hiringwriter #hiring #hiringrounds
