A True Underdog Story: From Loyal Fan to President In 2012, Tiago Rech was the only fan in the stands as his team, Santa Cruz, faced a crushing defeat. That moment went viral, earning him "superfan" status. But Tiago's journey didn't end there. Through sheer dedication and passion, he joined the club, worked his way up, and in 2018, he was elected president. By 2020, Santa Cruz celebrated their first State Championship win in over a century under his leadership. Tiago’s story is a powerful reminder: unwavering commitment and resilience can transform challenges into triumphs. In business, as in sports, loyalty and perseverance pave the way to success.

"𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭" At a recent leadership conference, I had the pleasure of listening to James Michael Lafferty, Olympic Coach & Corporate Leader . He spoke about what sets "𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬" apart from "𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬"!! Amongst the several golden nuggets of wisdom that James shared, what stuck with me is the example of the legendary 𝑬𝒅𝒘𝒊𝒏 𝑴𝒐𝒔𝒆𝒔, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑶𝒍𝒚𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒄 𝑯𝒖𝒓𝒅𝒍𝒆𝒓 and it prompted me to research more about Edwin. In today's VUCA and BANI world, we constantly seek inspiration and guidance from exemplary figures who embody dedication, resilience, and excellence. Edwin's journey offers profound lessons that are incredibly relevant. 1. 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒚 Edwin Moses' remarkable winning streak of 122 consecutive races over nearly a decade is a testament to his unwavering discipline and consistency. In our industry, maintaining high standards and delivering exceptional service consistently are key to earning our customers' trust and loyalty. 2. 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 Edwin was known for his innovative training methods and techniques, which gave him a competitive edge, for example, having studied mechanical engineering, he literally changed the game by applying some of those principles to increase his speed across the track by reducing the number of strides between each hurdle from 15 to 13 to 12 and alternating his legs in between to jump each hurdle. Similarly, in the fast-paced world of a consumer business, embracing innovation and being adaptable to changing trends and customer preferences helps us differentiate but continuous innovation is what keeps us ahead. 3. 𝑷𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒔 Despite numerous challenges and setbacks, Edwin's perseverance never wavered. His ability to stay focused and overcome obstacles is a powerful reminder that resilience is essential. Whether it's navigating supply chain disruptions or adapting to new regulations, our perseverance ensures our success in the consumer sector. 4. 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 Beyond his athletic achievements, Edwin has been a leader in advocating for fairness and integrity in sports. As leaders, we must champion ethical practices and create an environment where every team member feels valued and empowered. Please feel free to share your learnings and impressions about Edwin Moses in the comments! #Leadership #Inspiration #EdwinMoses #FoodServices #Excellence #Innovation #Perseverance #Integrity Here's an incredible video of his achievements from the Olympics website that you might enjoy watching: https://lnkd.in/g9b6K8XW

Arrived home at 5:00am last night, but for good reason! We just secured a huge playoff win on the road, and I couldn’t be prouder our team. Winning in a tough environment like that takes resilience, determination, and trust in those around you. As I reflect on this win, I want to share three valuable lessons from playoff football: 1. Perseverance Pays Off – Life will throw challenges your way, but it’s the ability to keep pushing forward—no matter the obstacles—that leads to success. 2. Preparation is Key – Success doesn’t happen by chance. Whether in work, relationships, or personal goals, preparation and hard work set you up for the win. 3. Trust the Process – Growth takes time. Trust the journey, stay consistent, and know that each step forward builds toward something greater. Next week, we’re facing the #5 team in the country. It’s a big challenge, but we’re ready to bring our best. On to the next!

Honor for, recognition of accomplishments, gratefulness and believing the best about each other human being: - in our homes - with our spouses - within leadership circles - inside our church staff - on and on How would this change us all?! 🔥 #executiveleadership #churchstaff #churchleaders #honoryourspouse #honoryourstaff

Tonight the winner takes it all. Twice!! I don’t follow these two sports all that closely, but in the NHL finals, the Edmonton Oilers are trying to come back from an 0-3 deficit to win a Game 7 Winner Takes it All Stanley Cup Final on the road at the Florida Panthers. Only once in NHL history has a team down 0-3 rallied to win in the finals/championship round, in 1942 when the Toronto Maple Leafs completed the miracle comeback against the the Detroit Red Wings. It’s never happened in the NBA Finals or the MLB World Series, although the 2004 Red Sox notably rallied in this manner against the Yankees in the ALCS, the round before the Series. Turning the channel:-), the University of Tennessee faces Texas A&M in the Game 3 Winner Takes It All final of the College Baseball World Series from Omaha. They both survived the early CWS Tournament rounds of 64, the Super Regionals of 16, and are the last two standing from the 8 final teams in Omaha. (Btw if you’ve never been to CWS in Omaha, it’s a wonderful experience - I went twice with TCU super fan Robert De Haven !) I’m guessing in your career you’ve had (or will) that “winner take all moment” - the make or break deal, an acquisition, the executive presentation of competitive visions, or recruiting that final piece of talent to win your championship. Every situation is different, but assuming you’ve worked hard, prepped as much as you can, you have to be confident and execute to the best of your abilities without letting the magnitude of the moment - or the stakes - overcome you. Easier said then done:-) but the rewards and perhaps a career defining accomplishment await you! Winning Like Mourinho ✈️ José Mourinho’s career is a masterclass in resilience, adaptability, and strategy. Whether you’re a football fan or not, there’s no denying that “The Special One ”just as the press call him, has racked up an impressive list of achievements which includes,; Champions League titles, league wins across Europe, and countless individual accolades. But here’s the thing: it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. From being doubted by critics to managing egos in the locker room, Mourinho has faced plenty of obstacles. Yet, he consistently finds a way to bounce back stronger. So, what can we learn from José Mourinho’s approach? 1️⃣ Adapt or Be Left Behind In life and work, we often face challenges. Instead of getting stuck when things don’t go as planned, we need to adapt, like Mourinho did when switching strategies mid-season or reinventing his coaching style across different leagues. 2️⃣ Thriving Under Pressure When stakes are high, some people crumble—Mourinho? Can never be him, He shines! . Learning to stay cool and deliver under pressure is a skill we can all use, whether it's a big project at work or a major life decision. 3️⃣ Use Criticism as Fuel Critics? Mourinho dey chop am for breakfast. Rather than letting negative feedback get you down, flip it around and let it fuel your next move. It’s a mindset game. 3️⃣ Keep Your Eyes on the Long Game Mourinho builds teams not just to win one match but to dominate a season. In the same way, we should approach our careers with a long-term vision, investing in #growth, even when short-term gains seem tempting. #Success is not about never failing; it’s about how you respond when things don’t go your way. The question now is how do you respond to setbacks? #Leadership #Resilience #LongGame #GrowthMindset #LessonsFromThePitch

⚽️ When it comes to football, every move counts. In football, success isn't just about individual talent; it's about how that talent is orchestrated on the field. With Coach Daryll's guidance and our dedication to mastering tactics, we're proving that victory isn't just a matter of chance—it's a result of meticulous planning and execution. ⚽️💡 That's why our Head Coach Daryll dedicated 1 hour and 45 minutes to an intense tactical session on Thursday 7th March. Delving deep into the intricacies of corner tactics, our team absorbed every detail, honing their strategic prowess. Since then, the results speak for themselves: 3 consecutive victories, earning us a solid 9 points. But it's not just about the wins—it's about how we're winning. Scoring an impressive 10 goals, with 3 of those coming from set pieces, demonstrates the direct impact of our tactical approach. #iSPORTSFootball #TacticalMastery #StrategicVictories

Michael Jordan is one of the premier sportspeople for motivational quotes. His track record in delivery in his sport is peerless, so when he speaks we should see how we can relate it to our world; and it is a great one today! As #businessleaders we frequently get presented with obstacles both internal and external, it is why we build capability within our organisations. How we utilise challenge to our advantage is something we have shared a lot this month; sports and challenge go hand in hand. Every obstacle is different and often created in different ways and contexts. And as MJ is sharing today, they might come out of the blue and hit us, at that point we stop and think how do we overcome it? As #salesleaders we try and move quickly to deal with any obstacle we face, either from customers or competitors. The more closely our team is aligned and engaged then the faster we start presenting solutions to consider; this is can be the most exciting part of any deal, as often life is far from plain sailing. So today let's test our teams on how ready they are to overcome obstacles. Assume external ones however it's always sensible to test internal approval ones as well. Winners win because they are prepared to face into anything a deal will throw at them. Let's be those winners today! #michaeljordan #inspirationalathlete #positivemindset
