Bring it on. The marketing industry serves as the barometer of the economic situation. hasan & partners is the barometer of the marketing industry in Finland. Last week, there was news about the temporary economic challenges we are facing. The market situation also reflects payment traffic to us, and recent strikes have had a significant short-term impact through project delays. To mitigate this temporary cash reserve challenge, we moved our salary payment date to the end of the month for Q2. Usually, a company of this size does not attract any interest from the media, but because of our iconic stature, we have a target on our back. In good and bad. Over the past few years, we have restructured, reformed, and rejuvenated hasan & Partners. We have prioritized our offering and focused on where we excel, which is our ABCDE: Advertising, Branding, Consulting, Design & Experience. As part of the restructuring, we've also had to make our fair share of tough decisions to optimize the company structure and manage the cost base. Because of this, we achieved a significant (+1Me Group EBIT) improvement in results in 2023 and continue to improve this year. The news article was reflecting 2022 numbers. Cost-cutting is not the way for growth, though. While we have undergone restructuring, we have continued to raise the bar without compromising our core: Creative excellence Craft and quality Commercial results for our clients Maintaining high standards is not the easiest way to do business, but for us, it has been and will be the only way forward. This uncompromised commitment to the work manifests in: - Successful and satisfied long-lasting clients (see some of the cases in comments). - Multiple new business wins in 2024. - A great track record in international award shows (6 shortlists in Clio & One Show already this year, the only Finnish agency to win a D&AD pencil last year, Eurobest, Red Dot, Golden Drum, etc.). And most importantly: - The best people I have ever had the chance to work with (and I have had the privilege to work with magnificent talent throughout my career). Exactly that! I was in a SaaS event in Malmö last week, and despite challenging markets also in Sweden and elsewhere, couldn't see too much negativity. Respect Riku, in how you are addressing the issue. To your point, in case of economic uncertainty, you need to be resilient and creative. And these happen to be two things where Finland excels in as a small nation. Over and over Finnish talent has shown to be adaptable, and innovative when it has been put to the test. And the amount of current successful companies and the thriving start-up and innovation sector show the way forward. Humbleness and stoicism are good. But it should not translate in negativity and inertia. Hyvä Suomi. And onwards Riku and Hassan. I am rooting for you all.
