Today marks a new milestone in drones research! I was able to successfully test my implicit communication algorithm with 2 independently flying drones. This algorithm makes a drone able to follow another vehicle just by sensing the wind produced by the latter. Putting todether a series of encounters it is possible to actually estimate the speed of the drone we want to follow. This experiment was made using a Parrot Mambo minidrone (the lower one in the image) programmed through simulink in a self-driving mode, and a Hasakee Q9s (top part of the image), a toy drone driven by me and used as the leading vehicle. In the image it is possible to see the time frame where the self driving drone (Parrot Mambo) is detecting the other one. It is well visible as the interaction wind caused the drone to slightly tilt forward.
