83% of law firms hire external marketing agencies. A much smaller percentage of those firms hire specialised legal marketing agencies. (Shameless plug: Solicitors Online Marketing) As you know, the legal industry is filled with intricacies. This makes it difficult for standard agencies to succeed acquiring your goals. Agencies that understands legal know: 1. Your content needs to be jargon free! 2. The ethical and regulatory constraints on marketing. 3. The buying process of your future clients. 4. What platform typically works best for each sector. 5. The significance of becoming a thought leader. A marketing agency that specialises in your industry will be better positioned to achieve your marketing goals. It just makes sense. But that's just what I think, let me know what you think in the comments!

83% of legal firms hire external marketing agencies. Why? Because marketing is the key that can take a law firm from struggling to find new business to being inundated with client enquiries. That said, what makes marketing agencies such a valuable asset to law firms? Expertise External agencies bring industry-specific knowledge and innovative strategies. That’s because in-house teams are solely focused on one law firm. Agencies, however, have a wider client base. They’re extremely well-versed in the legal industry as a whole, and can draw from a much wider pool of knowledge. They know very well what works and what doesn’t in the world of law firm marketing. And they use this knowledge to generate enquiries. Cost Efficiency Outsourcing marketing can be more cost-effective than maintaining an in-house team. Even if an agency works with the in-house team, the increase in revenue that the agency can bring means that you’ll be generating a far greater return on your investment. Time-Saving Firms can focus on their client workwhile marketing experts handle attracting new business. Lawyers can't do marketing. Marketers can't do lawyering 🤣 Those are just a few of the many benefits to law firms when hiring an agency. Of course, there are plenty more. But I’ll save those for another day.

With my experience in the world of marketing, Colin Levy kindly asked me to write about the topic. The thing is... I hate this topic. Ok, to be fair, I hate how people explain this topic. There is no definitive blueprint for marketing. EVERYTHING is going to work for SOMEONE. You just need to find out if you are that someone. If you're interested in reading more on how to market legal services without driving yourself nuts or going broke, check out the article "Marketing Legal Services in a World of Empty Promises". https://lnkd.in/ekviZdmP

Let's talk about the power of client testimonials in legal marketing. As someone who works closely with attorneys, I've seen firsthand how impactful these can be in attracting new clients and building trust. Recently, one of our clients shared a story that perfectly illustrates this. A potential client came to them specifically because they had seen a testimonial video of a case very similar to their own. This video gave the potential client confidence that the attorney could handle their case effectively. But here's the key: it's not just about having testimonials; it's about showcasing them effectively. We help our clients film past client testimonials and use them strategically. In order to make the most impact with these video testimonials, you should: - Post them on social media platforms - Feature them on your website - Include them in automated email series By doing this, you're not just telling potential clients you can help them; you're showing them through the experiences of others who've been in their shoes. Pro tip: Create a specific section on your website for reviews and testimonials. It's a great way to "double dip" on content, using it both on social media and your site. How are you currently using client testimonials in your marketing? Have you considered video testimonials? Share your thoughts and experiences below! #ClientTestimonials #LegalMarketing #SocialProof

Wanna hear a big issue when it comes to legal marketing? Going the “Let’s try it and see what happens” route. That’s not a strategic marketing plan for a law firm. I get it — the pressure is there. You see your competitors succeeding on certain platforms or in different trends and you feel the pressure of trying it out. But it doesn’t always go according to plan. If you throw money and time at everything, you can’t tell what’s working, and more than likely, you’ll give up on all these marketing campaigns too soon. So come up with a sustainable strategy. Your law firm marketing plan should incorporate the following things: ✅ Information on your target clients ✅ Details about the legal services you offer ✅ What makes your law firm unique from the competition ✅ The goals you’ll set for how many new clients or how much revenue you’ll generate ✅ Where you’ll reach your target clients (channels) and how you’ll get them (tactics) Curious to hear — does this hit home? Are you a law firm owner with a full-time (or part-time) marketer? If so, then I have an amazing resource for them (and you). Colleges don't teach small business marketing, and they especially don't teach legal marketing. Legal marketing is unique. We don't do digital marketing the way a product-based business might. All the demand-gen strategies don't work - mainly because it would be unethical for marketers to "create demand" for personal injury lawyers 🤪. And, most digital marketing tactics don't work without serious modification. We're driving people to make a phone call, not buy a product from an e-commerce store! Marketers who try to apply big business, product-based marketing for law firms end up frustrated and confused, and many feel like they are re-learning marketing - or question if marketing works for law firms. I get it. I was once a first-time legal marketer. I had a college degree but didn't "get" marketing for law firms. Luckily, I was trained by expert legal marketers BENJAMIN GLASS and Charley Mann. Through them, I learned how law firms find clients and how to thrive as a legal marketer! Now, I want to give legal marketers the same soft landing Ben and Charley gave me. That's why I started the Sharp Marketing Mastermind. This is a for-marketers-only mastermind where I teach the marketing that's working for my Fractional CMO clients. I also do "explain like I am five" demonstrations of digital marketing tactics, show-and-tell of new swag items, and a behind-the-scenes look at popular legal marketing programs. If this sounds like something you'd like your marketer to be part of, check out the link in my bio or my website, or check the comments for a direct link to the program page! I hope to see your marketer in our group next month!
