📽️ World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 🎙️ | October 27 Today, we celebrate the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage, a day dedicated to preserving our collective audiovisual history! Archives tell us incredible stories about culture, science, and innovation from all corners of the world. 🌍 Did you know that UNESCO’s audiovisual archives contain 560,000 documents, 75 hours of video, 5,000 photographs, and 7,000 hours of audio recordings? It’s an enormous treasure trove that gives us a glimpse into the past and helps shape our understanding of the world today. For example, check out these two fascinating recordings from the archives tagged under science: 🔊 1957 – About the London Science Museum A 5-minute interview with F. Greenway discussing the history of the London Science Museum and its groundbreaking collections—like innovations in the telegraph, steam engines, and flight. 🎧 Listen to how history speaks to us! 🔊 1955 – Artificial Satellite Athelstan Spilhaus talks about the ambitious plans to launch an artificial satellite to study solar radiation and meteorites. This recording captures a thrilling moment in the early days of space exploration! 🚀 These stories remind us that conserving our audiovisual heritage is crucial—it keeps history alive and accessible for future generations. Let’s take a moment to appreciate these archives, not only as sources of knowledge but as vibrant pieces of our shared memory.

🤝 COLLABORATIVE ARTISTIC INTERVENTIONS 🤝 at Asociación Espacio Rojo Shared Cosmogonies A conversation between Deneb Martos Marcos & Miguel Alfonso Bouhaben 12 January 2024 | Madrid, Spain «Shared Cosmogonies» (Kosmogonías compartidas) is a collaborative exploration merging painting, cinema, science, and philosophy, focusing on the genesis of constellations and galaxies. Led by image thinker Miguel Alfonso Bouhaben and visual artist Deneb Martos, the project centers on Martos’ work «Cosmogony. Film performance for a planetarium,» using cameraless film techniques on 35mm celluloid with live improvised music by Wade Matthews. The dialogue delves into themes of chaos and order, the visible and invisible, drawing from Hesiod’s Theogony where Chaos signifies both a condition of possibility and the genesis of philosophical inquiry and cinematic expression. «Shared Cosmogonies» challenges disciplinary boundaries, advocating for fluidity, dialogue, and hybridization in knowledge production, weaving together diverse materials and perspectives into a dynamic assemblage that transcends fixed categorizations. THE FOOT BANK In a first for a museum, Fred Forest and the Centre Pompidou are organizing a collection of your feet. If you think this is a hoax, think again: this is an educational initiative in which a major international museum is joining forces with a digital pioneer to launch a research project on the art of participation and creativity. An art that philosopher Pierre Levy calls "the art of involvement" in his preface. Banque du pied is a participatory action that invites visitors to symbolically take possession of the Internet by "putting their foot down", like an explorer treading on new ground for the first time. Last days action : https://lnkd.in/ehG2KHiX INSTRUCTIONS FOOT BANK TUTORIAL: https://lnkd.in/ebgtY7ER FROM YOUR HOME OR FROM THE 4TH FLOOR OF THE CENTER POMPIDOU, AND ONLY UNTIL OCTOBER 14, 2024. Sit down and remove the shoe from your right foot. Place your bare foot on a sheet of A4 paper and draw the outline of its imprint. Add your first name or pseudonym (never your name), your country and city of origin in capital letters. Depending on your preferred technique, create your work inside the foot without extending beyond the imprint: pen, felt-tip pen, watercolor, wash, paint, photography, digital practices, collage, etc. All techniques are welcome. Once your creation is complete, scan it or take a photo of it with your smartphone and send your scan or photo by email to the following address: [email protected] Your photo will finally appear on your smartphone or computer screen, as well as on a large wall of images that forms part of the Centre Pompidou's Fred Forest exhibition. As you wait patiently to see your entry scroll by, along with all the others, you can log on to La Banque du pied at any time by clicking on this link: https://lnkd.in/epTxiSPq DON'T FORGET TO PASS ON AND SHARE THIS OPPORTUNITY WITH FRIENDS NEAR YOU AND ALL OVER THE WORLD... Restored footage from 1896 of Paris and Lyon in France showcases pedestrians and vehicles of the past in various locations across the two cities. This footage, primarily filmed and produced by the pioneering Lumière brothers, Auguste and Louis, features notable locations such as the Eiffel Tower, Place des Cordeliers, Place de la Concorde, and Place du Pont. The Lumière brothers created one of the first motion picture cameras, the Cinématographe Lumière. Using AI technology, History Colored has increased the frame rate, upscaled, and “colorized” this footage. While the added color is not necessarily historically accurate, it provides a vivid glimpse into the past. The original footage is from Wikimedia Commons and the Internet Archive, with music by Cain, Lo Mimieux, and Epidemic Sound. #history #restored #france #lyon #paris At Reaction Search International, we understand the importance of preserving history while forging the future.
