Freuds recently helped B&Q over the past month, launch four sustainable initiatives to demonstrate their commitment to responsible business practices. These included the introduction of two in-store Energy Saving Hubs, the sale of recycled plastic plant pots collected at their recycling stations, a pledge to source all wood and paper products responsibly by 2024, and a commitment to eliminate peat from their plant products by 2026. This was accompanied by their latest Nature of Gardens report, which reflects the changes in consumer attitudes towards nature in their gardens. According to this research, more Brits are increasingly concerned about the decline of wildlife. More people now blame climate change, the use of pesticides and chemicals, and air pollution for the decline in wildlife than they did in 2017. Recognising the importance of peatlands, they have also been in partnership with the Woodland Trust since 2022, the UK's largest woodland conservation charity. The charity supports the restoration, protection and creation of native woodland at Snaizeholme, North Yorkshire. The project also includes the restoration of 279 acres of upland peatbog. Additionally, B&Q conducted a YouGov survey titled the Nature of Gardens report, updating the findings from the 2017 survey to reflect changes in consumer attitudes towards nature in their gardens. According to this research, more Brits are concerned about the decline of wildlife than seven years ago. More people now blame climate change, the use of pesticides and chemicals, and air pollution for the decline in wildlife than in 2017.

Just came across LUSH’s innovative cork packaging, and was in awe! 🌍 Cork is such a fascinating material—it’s not just renewable but also highly sustainable. Harvested from cork oak trees without harming them, the bark regenerates, making it an endlessly reusable resource. Plus, cork oak forests are biodiversity hotspots and play a vital role in carbon sequestration, absorbing CO2 as the trees regrow. Lush’s use of cork for packaging is a brilliant example of how thoughtful material choices can make a big impact—keeping products fresh while actively benefiting the planet. It’s inspiring to see brands like Lush leading the charge for a more sustainable future - have you ever come across cork in your packaging? #SustainablePackaging #CorkInnovation #EcoFriendlyDesign #TheFutureIsGreen

World Environment Day #worldenvironmentday@drkmahidulofficial #drkmahidulofficial Celebrating World Environment Day, which falls on June 5th each year, is an opportunity to raise awareness and take action for environmental protection. Here are some ideas for activities and initiatives to mark the occasion:1. **Community Clean-up**: Organize a local clean-up event in parks, beaches, or neighborhoods. Gather volunteers to collect litter and recyclables, promoting a cleaner and greener environment.2. **Tree Planting**: Arrange a tree-planting drive. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and provide oxygen, improving air quality and supporting biodiversity.3. **Educational Workshops**: Conduct workshops or seminars on topics like recycling, composting, and sustainable living. Invite environmental experts to share knowledge and practical tips.4. **Eco-friendly Projects**: Launch projects that encourage eco-friendly practices, such as creating community gardens, setting up recycling stations, or initiating composting programs.5. **Art and Essay Competitions**: Host competitions in schools and communities focused on environmental themes. Encourage participants to express their ideas and concerns through art and writing.6. **Nature Walks and Hikes**: Organize guided nature walks or hikes to connect people with their local natural environment. This helps foster a deeper appreciation for nature and the importance of conservation.7. **Film Screenings**: Show environmental documentaries or films that highlight critical issues like climate change, deforestation, and wildlife conservation. Follow up with discussions to inspire action.8. **Sustainable Living Challenges**: Challenge individuals or groups to adopt sustainable habits for a day, week, or month. Bio-diversity loss is a critical issue for our planet. Simple initiatives can help turn things around. Bees pollinate ensuring the surrounding habitat thrives. Our 3 beehives at Panaz HQ, are surrounded by bee friendly flowers such as bluebells and forget me nots, along with lavender and buddleia (little known fact Bees can see the colour purple more clearly than any other colour). Not everyone needs to keep beehives to support our eco system, simply planting bee friendly flowers can make a big difference. Running beehives is just one of many sustainability initiatives at Panaz, visit our website for further details. #sustainability #simplestepstosustainability #beefriendly #protectourplanet https://lnkd.in/eUmegp2d

They weren't being recycled. They are now! There are a few of us who are using this for our compost! Small things.
