🌾#Regenerative food systems were high on the agenda at the Forum for the Future of Agriculture (ForumforAg) Annual Conference, with speakers highlighting the critical need to support farmers in the transition to more sustainable and resilient food systems. Keynote speaker Saswati Bora, The Nature Conservancy, noted that we are entering "a major movement that can best be described as moving from conventional productive systems [to] regenerative food systems.” Regen10 partner WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development additionally called for more to be done to de-risk food systems transitions for farmers, with Stefania Avanzini noting how “the short-term risks are still on the shoulders of farmers.” 👩🌾 Regen10 is working to address these issues, ensuring that farmers are co-creators in the food systems transition. Our Outcomes-Based Framework, which is being developed alongside farmers and landscape stewards, will play a key role in this by helping farmers mobilise finance and deliver nature-positive outcomes. UNDP white paper presents an urgent call for a global overhaul of food systems to address critical challenges like environmental degradation, climate change, and food insecurity. My work in Datanam : Precision Vertical Farming and Circafeed are aligned with their mission and our effort to foster sustainability through smart solutions in the agricultural sector couldn’t be more relevant. 1. Agritechnology for Sustainable Production: Datanam’s data-driven agritech solutions aim to optimize crop yields, reduce waste, and conserve resources. By integrating predictive analytics, we help farmers make informed decisions, lowering environmental impact while enhancing productivity. This supports UNDP’s emphasis on sustainable agricultural practices and resource efficiency. 2. Innovation in Circular Food Systems: Circafeed exemplifies innovation in action. We transform food waste into nutrient-rich animal feed, creating a circular economy model that aligns perfectly with the report’s call for innovative solutions to systemic food issues. This not only reduces food waste but also strengthens local food security by repurposing resources that would otherwise go unused. 3. Community Empowerment and Capacity Building: We understand that true resilience requires empowered communities. Through workshops and training sessions, we help local farmers and communities adopt sustainable practices, enhancing their resilience to climate challenges. Supporting farmers with the right tools and knowledge aligns with UNDP’s goals for multi-stakeholder collaboration and community-led growth. You can read more about the UNDP white paper here:

The decline in British hop production might not capture everyone's attention, but it highlights a critical challenge facing our entire food system 🌱🍺. With climate conditions changing unpredictably 🌍, traditional crops like hops are becoming harder to cultivate, threatening not only the heritage of British beer but also the broader agricultural landscape. This isn’t just about hops—it’s a reminder that our food supply depends on resilient, adaptable production methods to keep pace with an evolving environment. The urgent need for innovation in agriculture has never been clearer 🌾💡. Whether through sustainable farming practices, new crop varieties, or advanced technology, we must be proactive in adapting to these shifts. As we explore these solutions, it’s worth considering: How can we collaborate across industries to ensure a secure and sustainable food future? 🤝 https://lnkd.in/d3QgeD93

✨ Food Matters Live 2024 - Manchester ✨ Over the past two days, I attended Food Matters Live, a great event that shed light on the key challenges in making food and beverage production more sustainable. 1. Regenerative agriculture 🚜 was the central topic of many discussions, but one thing became clear: there’s no agreed-upon definition yet. 2. Real change starts within farming communities 🧑🌾. They don't want someone on a suit telling them how to produce. Farmers inspire other farmers when they demonstrate that adopting practices to boost biodiversity and reduce carbon footprint can also improve profitability. 3. Connecting corporations with local producers and committing to targets🎯 like the Science Based Targets initiative are critical steps for driving industry-wide change. However, while companies are capable of monitor and mitigate internal emissions (Scope 1 & 2), scaling Scope 3 emissions tracking remains a challenge. Collaborating with external software providers is proving to be a key solution. A huge thank you to the organisation and the leaders driving the sustainable transition in our industry, for sharing their insights!
