🌍 It was a privilege to sit down with Novethic for an in-depth conversation about Fairphone’s journey and our role in pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the smartphone industry. Interviewed by Clément Fournier, and joined by Frederic Bordage of GreenIT.fr, we explored the challenges and opportunities we face as we continue to grow and evolve. One key focus of the discussion was how Fairphone’s message has shifted. As shared during the interview, “Our challenge is no longer just about selling a sustainable phone, but about demonstrating that our products are high-performing, efficient, and practical, thanks to their easy repairability and the 8 years of software support. And as an added benefit, they’re also environmentally friendly.” This shift is crucial as we look to expand our reach and make sustainability tech more mainstream. Fairphone’s modular design and repairable hardware aren't just ecological, they’re practical too, extending the lifespan of our devices and reducing e-waste 🔧. We’re also focusing on the B2B market, where businesses are increasingly looking for sustainable solutions to meet their CSR obligations. This approach provides an opportunity for growth while ensuring we maintain the same high environmental standards 🌱. 🔗 Read the full interview in French here: https://lnkd.in/gP4WH6Xt #Sustainability #ModularDesign #Fairphone #Ewaste #CSR #CircularEconomy

This Get Online Week we've been highlighting the massive number of devices - phones, tablets and other tech - that are sitting in drawers going unused across the UK. Over 200 million - you read that right. Approximately 3 per household. This at a time when 1.5m people can't afford a smartphone, tablet, laptop and the connectivity needed to get online. The map below shows some digital exclusion hotspots. Together with our partners Good Things Foundation and Barnardo's, we're hoping to change that. We're collecting in used and working tech through our Great British Tech Appeal, we securely data wipe all data from them, add a free 6 months sim card - and then give them to those most in need. We've collected over 45,000 since 2020 and rehomed over 15,000 - the rest are responsibly recycled. A sustainability tick too. If any of you have "that" drawer at home, with a couple of smartphones languishing in there - please donate them to our GB Tech Appeal - bring them into any Vodafone shop on the high street or follow the link for more info. Together we can help close the digital divide. https://lnkd.in/gcd-rEzi #everyone.connected #GBTA #GetOnlineWeek #NationsNetwork #GreatBritishTechAppeal

The future that is coming, which we are now designing, heads towards a scenario of diversification in mobile devices. The key to survival (market logic leads us to a Darwinian scenario where value is generated and lost) will lie not only in the integration of advanced capabilities into support systems, including voice virtual assistants, but especially in the seamless convergence between devices that reward 'traceability' of tasks, offering continuous experiences without loss of value regardless of the device. Very happy to share mention with giants as Amy Webb and Alexander Manu https://lnkd.in/dBsY5Agn
