Can Zepto be the Byju's of 2024. Every day morning when I wake up at 10A.M. the first message I see is from Zepto. My 40Rs. cashback is expiring unless I purchase something now. It has been expiring for the last 3 months atleast. Last time I ordered a Zepto pass was sneakily added to my cart. So I am a Zepto pass user who uses Zepto once every 3 months. Zepto has raised 3 consecutive rounds of funding and have been agressively expanding their team. Their goal is to be larger than DMart whatever it takes. Hence everyday 40Rs. gets credited to every Dmart users wallet before they wake up in the morning. According to a report Zepto founders own very less equity in the company and majority is tied up in their family offices in Dubai. This could hint as safeguard for a potential liquidity event. Do you believe Zepto will be the new face of ecommerce in India? As a techie I personally believe its always better to prioritize work culture and stability over hikes . Companies that offer standard salaries but have a focus on profitability and sustainability should always be prioritized. PS : Opinions are my own , collected from reddit and TOI articles and may or may not be correct. Follow Ramit Kundu for your daily dose of tech.

One of the dark patterns - Making free delivery optional. You need to click on APPLY free delivery CTA to activate free delivery even if your cart value qualifies for free delivery. I would rather say unethical business practices.

Gazab aadmi ho yar, Sab kuch likh bhi diya aur last me bol bhi diya ki statement ki koi authenticity nahi hai. At times organizations need to work hard and its employees too are required to go extra mile. They shouldn’t only appreciate when they are paid 2x pay packages. You sold yourself for this only , then why crying post getting that 2X. #Zepto is doing it’s task. Let us do ours than preaching. Guess all the people who are scared of 12-14 hours working haven’t seen their mothers kind of working for almost 18 hours. #workhard #enjoyyourwork #workplaceethics

Honestly, I feel like Zepto’s heading towards a dead end. These quick-commerce startups burn cash like there’s no tomorrow, and without solid profits to back them up, they’ll probably go out like Byju’s – just faster. Might end up dying a dog’s death if they don’t get their act together.

Point 5: What I've noticed is even after you get a pass, sometimes their app won't apply free delivery automatically and you have to click on the "apply" button manually which someone in a hurry might miss and end up paying delivery charges.

Thanks for sharing this Ramit Kundu I used to be someone who criticises the work culture where people are working for 14+hrs. But when I started understanding more about the company from the founder’s point of view, it makes sense to some extent. Again, not supporting this work culture with more work less pay. Recently we have seen BookMyShow, I have been booking tickets from it for the last 6 years, not even once I faced issue. I’m sure there are more users like me who have been using many platforms like this for years. But one incident in a span of just hours, the reputation and the trust of the company went down as they couldn’t handle one prestigious event. They will recover from it, but they will face some impact about the incident in future bookings of such events. Customer facing apps need to work 24/7 and they should continue to do so as long as they are in the market, else the impact and backlash is huge. Same happens with banks and payment systems. We expect these apps to be free of use and always available. Imagine the team behind who is working to achieve the very purpose. Someone once said, you can’t achieve extradinary results by doing ordinary work.

Dmart share is down, Zepto is burning cash like hell...... But the problem will be when Zepto will be public in next 2-3 years.... only the retail investor will loose money.......... and Aadit will be in Bahamas enjoying post retirement life

Zepto is amazing. Let haters hate. There is no scope for complacency or work-life balance in a fast-paced startup with the mission to become the everything app. Zepto is more than quick commerce. It is my Costco/Whole Foods/Amazon/DMart/Hipster Cafe rolled into one, with limitless possibilities. PS: Young friends: 14 hour work days are Normal and necessary for exponential growth in life. Work hard, create wealth, and use it to achieve other priorities (family, kids, leisure) later in life.

Sometimes I feel no one wants to solve the traffic and pollution of metro cities because they want to promote these home delivery giants. If the pollution goes away and roads become safer, wouldn't you and I prefer to step out and buy our own groceries?

Few things to think: 1. How did you arrive at the conclusion that 40 rupees is being added to the wallet of DMart users only? 2. DMart is nowhere near Zepto, BlinkIt or Instamart. If Zepto regards someone as competitor, it would be BlinkIt first and Instamart next. 3. Founders not owning majority stakes in the company has never been good for a growing company. But in Zepto’s case, the majority stakes are held by the founders’ family businesses only. Which means, the majority stakes are still with the founders, one way or the other. 4. Indian startups have always had bad working conditions from Infosys in the 80s. This is partly because of the lack of innovation in Indian startups.

Forget meeting, Zepto people don't even join interviews on time 😂. For a 45 min interview they are 30 mins late and HR keeps saying to wait on the meeting link.
