With Budget 2024 announced, it's becoming evident that many people would rather forgo their tax reduction in favour of the Government handing it to other needs. Others might be differently placed. Without venturing into the pros & cons involved in choosing somethingdifferent, I'm hoping those driven towards pointing at what the government should do, opt for doing something more practical instead. The following platforms make it reasonably easy for NZers to contribute small amounts to causes they care about, ensuring their donations make a meaningful impact. Never one to idle - the 2025 Perth Coastal Bike Ride planning has commenced! After all it is now less than 1 year and the following indices will shape the 2025 event: 1. Confirmed 10km Family Ride category. 2. Extended distance to 120 km has been planned and explored. 3. Proactive and supportive charities who worked together with the Perth Integrated Events Team will be invited back for 2025. 4. The formation of a duality event where people can ride for themselves or ride for a cause has proven effective and for many also provision to participate without the extensive costs associated with fund raising. 5. Raising the bar in 2025 ensuring that this event shows evidence of support for people with disabilities and or local research here in Western Australia. 6. Growing the event from its always intended Small category to Medium category sized event in 2025 which is part of our gradual growth in line with population expansion and road density needs. Last-minute people, this one’s for you. We’ve put on campaigns and appeals that needed to be launched in a couple of days. It is very very very stressful, but it is something that we’ll do and we’ll prioritize it as much as we can. There are times when we say it’s impossible and delay it for a few days, so we get some time to prepare ourselves. But there are times when an emergency campaign is needed (generally for a tragedy) and we put it on. It’s stressful and a lot of work, but it can be done. We’re here to help. Broken or incomplete 🧸toys not played with, jumbled up with other toys. 5. Things left in garages, attics which have become dirty/smelly. 6. Out of date tech items 📸📲 So much effort goes into producing each and every item we own - it’s so sad 😞 when they never get used. Trade your “just in case” mindset for a “pay it forward” mindset. Respect your possessions and let them find new life in someone else’s hands. p.s. charity stores are faced with mountains of unsaleable items (like those above) dropped off each day. The rule of thumb is - if you wouldn’t pay for it yourself, it’s not donateable. Dropping off unsalelable items costs charities money. #donate #payitforward #minimalism #declutter

Tip Tuesday: Downsizing? Decide if items should be sold or donated. When it comes to items in your home that you no longer need, ask yourself: Should this be SOLD or DONATED? If donated: Are you okay with your items going to a good cause? Consider donating to charities like Salvation Army or Mission Thrift Store or others that align with your values. Your donations can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. If sold: Do you think these items could bring value to someone else in the marketplace? Consider options like an online auction (we can help with that!) or platforms like Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace.
