Recently, we have 22 accepted papers and expect to have 30 to have a well-done conference program. The updated deadline for the full paper (or extended abstract) submission: May 15, 2024. The conference will take place on June 6, 2024. 💡 Continuing our spotlight on our faculty contributions in the realm of corporate governance, this week, we’re bringing you research by Profs Andrew Shipilov, Henrich R. Greve, Tim Rowley et al who have investigated the impact of governance practices on firm outcomes.   In this paper, the authors question the implications of adopting various board governance practices that are proposed as solutions to conflicts between stakeholders. Although agency independence theory suggests that board independence and incentive alignment would improve alignment, the evidence is uncertain. To address this, the authors have used data and algorithm supported induction to examine the role of the board governance practices for the performance of Canadian firms between 2001 and 2010.    Using data and interviews with board members, the authors conclude that only a small subset of practices are associated with firm value creation distribution.
