How Lyobead Technology Works Lyophilization Process Preparation: The material to be lyophilized (e.g., a biological sample or drug solution) is prepared and mixed with stabilizers if necessary. Freezing: The material is rapidly frozen, often to very low temperatures, turning the water content into ice. Primary Drying: Under vacuum, the ice sublimates (turns directly from solid to gas) without melting, leaving behind a dry, porous structure. Secondary Drying: Further drying removes residual moisture to ensure long-term stability. Bead Formation: The dried material is then processed into bead form, often using techniques like extrusion or molding. Bead Integration Diagnostics: Lyobeads are integrated into diagnostic assays or test formats, where they dissolve upon contact with a liquid sample, releasing their contents for analysis.
