Great overview of the value of L4S in improving broadband performance plus the next steps in the BBF.
Jonathan Newton CEng, the Broadband Forum's Access and Transport Architecture Work Area Director, discusses a recently approved project to study how the IETF's L4S applies to the broadband network. Championed by familiar brands, such as Apple, Nokia, and Intel, the L4S initiative aims to reduce end-to-end queuing delay. Although ATA is taking the lead, Newton suggests interest in this study from other Work Areas, such as the Wireless-Wireline-Convergence (WWC), as it touches multiple points within the home, access, and transport networks. As such, he encourages all who are interested to participate. He also suggests this is a good opportunity for non-members to join the Broadband Forum and help drive the implementation of L4S in the network. https://lnkd.in/g8Raepk4 To learn more about joining the Broadband Forum https://lnkd.in/g9snG2gv

VIAVI Marconi Labs is delighted to share our latest work entitled "Rate-Splitting Multiple Access for Semantic-Aware Networks: An Age of Incorrect Information Perspective", which is now in Early Access in IEEE Wireless Communications Letters. In this work, we investigate the design and use of Rate-Splitting Multiple Access (RSMA), Spatial Division Multiple Access (SDMA), and Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) to address the requirements of next generation wireless network prioritizing the information freshness. We use the metric Age-of-Incorrect Information to find optimal user scheduling, power allocation, and precoder designs for each framework and analyse the system performance to provide insights on the operation of next generation networks. The paper can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eC2z-uZK The work is supported in part by the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology under the Future Open Networks Research Challenge project TUDOR (Towards Ubiquitous 3D Open Resilient Network). #6G #multipleaccess #semanticcommunications

Today I am sharing the paper "Fast Decision Algorithms for Efficient Access Point Assignment in SDN-Controlled Wireless Access Networks", in which we proposed access point assignment algorithms for SDN-enabled wireless networks, leveraging network-side predictions based on past user behavior. This proposal is particularly relevant for ultra dense environments, in which handovers are very frequent. The article has been published in the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management journal: https://lnkd.in/dmysdtVw. The Open Access version is available at the UVigo institutional repository: https://lnkd.in/dB-m3YnU Thanks to all co-authors for the great work! 🔥 Hot off the press!🔥 Proud to announce that the EWOC consortium has a recent paper accepted in IEEE Access journal! 🎉 📄 Title of the Paper: Towards Virtualized Optical-Wireless Heterogeneous Networks 👥 Authors: Zoran Vujicic, María Concepción Santos Blanco, Rodrigo Otoniel Méndez Canú, Bleron Klaiqi, Jonathan R. Gonzalez, Xavier Gelabert, Md Arifur Rahman, Roberto Gaudino 📅 Publication Date: 20 June 2024 You can access the full paper here: https://lnkd.in/dcQ9hnnK Abstract Summary: To support a myriad of new services and applications under highly heterogeneous operating conditions, 6G communication systems must advance significantly. This paper identifies key challenges and promising approaches for dense and complex urban deployments enabled by optical-wireless coexistence. Our 6G vision focuses on four main innovation paradigms: * Network Capacity: Pursuing radio frequencies towards the THz domain to meet future capacity demands. * Cooperative Coexistence: Ensuring efficient operation under heterogeneous conditions through cooperative physical layer architecture. * Resource Optimization: Joint and holistic optimization for mm-wave and sub-THz operations while maintaining legacy systems. * Network Security: Addressing unique security aspects critical for market adoption of new technologies. In this paper, we provide an overview of state-of-the-art approaches and identify research gaps within these paradigms. This accomplishment is a testament to the collaborative work within EWOC project. We are grateful to everyone involved in this project, and the fruitful discussions we had that led to the publication of this paper. This paper proposes an efficient #neural #architecture #search (#NAS) algorithm, TouchNAS, to find the optimal multi-touch algorithm on a target device. The authors first introduce the progressive architecture pruning method for the search space. This method reduces the training and evaluation costs by omitting the accuracy predictor. They also propose a dynamic learning rate scheduler that assists the efficient training of multiple models by calculating the number of model parameters. Finally, they present multi-touch datasets to measure the performance of multi-touch algorithms objectively. ---- Saehyun Ahn, Jung-Woo Chang, Hyeon-Seok Yoon, Suk-Ju Kang More details can be found at this link: https://lnkd.in/e2j7E2yJ
