How do you build a business when the economic backdrop is a bit shit? Next week I have meetings set up with 3 potential new clients all operating strictly within the technology sector. On Friday I also set up a final interview for an IT Management role within the manufacturing industry. Over the last couple of months i've been finding the first external tech hires for an awesome client in the Oil & Gas Industry. I've only found one solutions that works effectively... maintaining my standards and increasing my hours. My clients come to me because they expect me to find them the best candidates first time, so I continue to do that. My clients expect me not to spam them with sales pitches - so I continue to build relationships first and keep the pitching to a minimum other than to introduce myself to more people - this is where the increased workload comes in. I havnt dropped my rates, I havnt started pitchslapping, i'm only working exclusive business and i'm not throwing any shit at the fan in the hope that it sticks. If you want to come out of a downturn stronger than you were coming in you need to maintain the quality in what you do - even if it takes more time. Future you will thank you for it. It's tough out there - but dont drop the ball or its only going to get harder...... I
