🚗🔋 Can Policy Damage or Hype the Roll-Out of Electric Vehicles? 🇧🇪✨ As Belgium's political landscape evolves after the recent elections, the future of eMobility policies could be at a critical juncture. With a new federal administration set to form, the impact on our EV sector is a topic of keen interest. EV Belgium vzw remains focused! Key Points: Political Shifts: The rise of Vlaams Belang in Flanders and the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) holding strong, while MR and Les Engagés are expected to solidify their presence in the south. Potential Policy Delays: If N-VA prevails, they may propose delaying the phase-out of combustion engines from 2029 to 2035, potentially mirroring EU considerations. Stability is Key: Political uncertainty often leads to a slowdown in EV sales. It's crucial to maintain a clear and consistent commitment to eMobility to ensure consumer confidence. Belgium’s Strong Position: Despite challenges, Belgium is a leader in EV adoption and charging infrastructure, with a significant growth in EV share to 50.4%. With nearly a quarter of a million electric vehicles on our roads and an ever-expanding charging network, Belgium is well-positioned to compete with European leaders like the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. The pressing question remains: Can policy decisions either hinder or boost the roll-out of electric vehicles in Belgium? 🚀🔋 Read the full article from Inés Platini here: https://lnkd.in/dU8FHMcK #EVBelgium #eMobility #ElectricVehicles #SustainableFuture #ZeroEmissions #Belgium

🚀 EV Charger News Flash from Across Europe! 🚀 It seems Denmark has zoomed ahead to claim the title of “Most Electrified Nation in Europe” for 2024! Bravo, Denmark, for turning tax exemptions and rebates into the hottest accessory since… well, since the last tax rebate. Norway, slightly miffed, has moved to second place because apparently, they misplaced a few public charging stations on the way. As for Germany? They've been told to invest more in charging infrastructure before they run out of places to park their 1.5 million electric vehicles. That's a lot of Schnitzel-powered journeys waiting to happen! 🇩🇰🇳🇴🇩🇪 Meanwhile, GreenWay Infrastructure is rolling out 300 ultra-fast chargers in Croatia. Yes, you read that right. They’ve decided to sprinkle charging stations like fairy dust all over key corridors and urban hotspots, making sure even lost tourists have no excuse to run out of juice. I say, well played! ⚡ And, let’s not forget the UK. With the enthusiasm of a teabag left too long in the cup, it lags behind, relying on promises of public charging points that are taking longer to materialize than my hair in the morning! Time to catch up, chaps! 🇬🇧 While Europe races ahead with growth rates, charging points, and renewable-powered plug sockets, we at Daze are just sitting back, sipping tea (or something stronger), and quietly revolutionizing the AC EV charger game with our user-friendly, absurdly efficient solutions. 🚗⚡ You want sustainability? We’ve got it. Need a reliable charger? Look no further. Who says you can’t laugh and innovate at the same time? Let's keep the conversation rolling - both literally and metaphorically - as we push towards a more electrified, efficient future! #ChargingAhead #EVRevolution #DazeSolutions #GreenEnergyLaughs #SustainabilityWithASmile #EuropeGoesElectric #EVMobilityMadness #DazeYourWay

#ev EMOBILITY ON THE GERMAN POLITICAL AGENDA: WHAT PRIORITIES SHOULD GUIDE THE NEXT GOVERNMENT? Electric mobility in Germany is currently at a decisive stage, marked by challenges arising from the potential dissolution of the “Ampel” coalition and the political uncertainty this generates. This scenario could present a key opportunity for candidates in the upcoming February elections to intensify their efforts towards a sustainable transition. This scenario could present a key opportunity for candidates in the upcoming February elections to intensify their efforts towards a sustainable transition. In this context, experts agree that the next government must establish clear priorities to ensure the progress of electromobility. York Kolb emphasises that economic incentives are crucial to democratise access to electric mobility. These programmes must particularly target middle- and low-income sectors, where the adoption of clean technologies remains a challenge. Furthermore, he adds: “The focus should be on pushing original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to produce affordable EVs.” Without an increase in the supply of electric units at competitive prices, the transition will continue to be slow. full article: https://lnkd.in/dDm2dY7d

🚗🔋 As electric vehicles (EVs) become the future of mobility, what happens to fuel tax revenues? In our latest research with professor Felix Muesgens, we explore how the rise of EVs can create a fiscal gap and how congestion pricing might offer a smart solution. 🌍 Our study shows that smart road tolls can offset lost fuel taxes, improve traffic flow, and reduce emissions. Key findings: - €784 million annual revenue from congestion pricing in the greater Berlin area can exceed the fuel tax shortfall. 💶 - A 28% reduction in traffic delays and a significant CO2 drop. 🌱 - Progressive toll structure ensures fairness across income groups. ⚖️ - Outer boroughs should be prioritized for the revenue re-investments. 🏙️ Could congestion pricing be the key to sustainable urban mobility? 💡 Find out more about the impact of this policy in an EV-driven world in our working paper here: https://lnkd.in/epGfrQW5. Special thanks to professor Kai Nagel and his team in TU Berlin for their valuable feedback on this work. 🙏 #Sustainability #EVs #CongestionPricing #EnergyPolicy #ClimateAction

Over the last couple of days, it's no secret to say there have been industry roundtables attended by representatives for the REA . These roundtables have demonstrated the values of cooperation and the need to unite around common themes and messages that bring the consumer with us. For those without a driveway there is still more work to be done to lower the running costs and through Cross Pavement Solutions, Driveway Sharing and lowering the cost at the chargepoint through VAT reductions, and lowering grid connections costs, while also incentivising renewable energy generation and flexibility we will get there. Or have innovative ways to bring the cost of charging down through advertising. Some of these are already here and are helping right now. Luckily the REA have been working on all these areas, sometimes for decades. We now need to in the upcoming ZEV Mandate consultation to have a grown up conversation around what the outcome will be. Regardless of changes to short term targets or flexibilties (I've said enough about them before), by 2030 80% of new cars and 70% of new vans will be zero emissions. Making it the most ambitious policy of its kind. For that James Vickery and the DfT team must be applauded as it's something that took shape over several different Transport Ministers, PMs and Government's and involved thousands of hours of consultation and industry feedback. That's the message investors must see, to provide confidence and certainty in the EV sector. The UK has the most ambitious Government for EVs. Of course demand side incentives like first and or second hand grants or scrappage schemes would also give the whole sector a massive boost and I'd say we need to find the money from somewhere to do that if at all possible. Perhaps through reinvesting fines in to variable grant pots? REA will work with Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom as it has done for the last couple of years to ensure the ZEV mandate is something we can all be proud to have and that will incentivise investment in the UK and make it a leader in the EV space.
