What medicines are most often bought in Uzbekistan? CRPT TURON analysts conducted a study of the demand for medicines in Uzbekistan for the first 5 months of 2024 and compiled a rating of the most in-demand drugs. 1. A remedy for pain, fever and inflammation: Active substances: acetylsalicylic acid, caffeine, paracetamol. Sales volume: The leader in the number of packages sold (47% of the total volume in the country). Regions: The most popular are in Tashkent (47%), Jizzakh (28%), Samarkand (11%) and Bukhara (8%) regions. 2. The antibiotic: Active substance: ceftriaxone. Regions: Most often they buy in Samarkand (44%), Tashkent (24%), Jizzakh (11%) and Ferghana (10%) regions. 3. Antimicrobial agent: Active substance: metronidazole. Regions: Tashkent is the leader in sales (58%). 17% of all sales were in the Samarkand region, 9% in the Tashkent region. The list of the most popular medicines also includes: • solution for normalization of blood circulation (INN: dextran); • saline solution (INN: sodium chloride); • ointment for wound healing (INN: dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine + chloramphenicol); • solution for the treatment and prevention of iron deficiency (INN: iron (III) hydroxide polymaltosate); • activated carbon; • capsules for the treatment of infections (INN: azithromycin; • isotonic solution, which is prescribed for dehydration and intoxication. The introduction of a drug labeling system in Uzbekistan in 2022 was an important step in the fight against counterfeit products. According to Anatoly Bachikalov, CEO of CRPT TURON, labeling allows you to confirm the originality of drugs, ensure safety, and reduce the share of illegal trafficking. To verify the authenticity of medicines and obtain information about them, CRPT TURON has developed a free mobile application Asl Belgisi. At the end of 2017 we prepared a report/ economic analysis on the reimbursement and copayment for pharmaceuticals for cardiovascular diseases (the group of the sartans) and how can the wide gap in copayment be addressed by the Bulgarian healthcare authorities. More on Fentanyl, focusing on Israel: In the past decade, the number of people using prescription opioids in Israel has increased steadily. Two studies that were published in 2023 show that the most prevalent prescription opioid that is on the rise is transdermal Fentanyl (Fentanyl patches), and that most patients for whom Fentanyl was prescribed have non-cancer chronic pain (Dressler et al., 2023; Davidovitch et al., 2023). Moreover, most of the Fentanyl- prescribed patients are under the age of 65 (Davidovitch et al., 2023). These are the facts. The consequences of the widespread distribution of transdermal Fentanyl are difficult to document and study, and therefore the knowledge about diversion, misuse and overdose death from Fentanyl in Israel is based on anecdotal reports, published in the popular media. Here are two examples: ·      Omer Lev, a 22-year-old young man, died from a single use of transdermal Fentanyl that he bought from an illegal seller (https://lnkd.in/dU-FBbcv). ·      Adelle David, a 19-year-old young woman, nearly died from smoking a Fentanyl patch and agreed to share her story on a public television program (https://lnkd.in/dySnaTvP) These two stories are the tip of the iceberg of a phenomenon, in which estimated thousands of Israeli people are Fentanyl addicts who misuse the transdermal patch, and receive it either through a legal physician prescription or from buying them as a diverted drug on the black market.   

💊 𝗞𝘆𝗿𝗴𝘆𝘇𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻'𝘀 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝟱𝟲% 𝗶𝗻 𝗤𝟭 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 I recently came across an insightful article on the Akchabar financial portal about the significant increase in Kyrgyzstan's pharmaceutical imports. Here are the key highlights: 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: In the first quarter of 2024, Kyrgyzstan imported 3.4 thousand tons of pharmaceuticals, a 56% increase compared to the same period last year. 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀: The main suppliers from January to March 2024 were: • Kazakhstan: 930.9 tons • Uzbekistan: 708 tons • China: 588.1 tons In comparison, during the first three months of 2023, Uzbekistan led with 675.1 tons, followed by India with 335.5 tons, and Kazakhstan, which was third with 250.9 tons. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀: Pharmaceuticals were imported from 49 countries. Notably, China's exports to Kyrgyzstan increased by 7.1 times, from 82.2 tons in Q1 2023 to 588.1 tons in Q1 2024. Other notable increases included: • Vietnam: from 1.3 tons to 7.3 tons • Romania: up to 9.1 tons • South Korea: from 1.1 tons to 4.5 tons 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The total value of pharmaceutical imports in Q1 2024 was $55.4 million, up from $45.7 million in Q1 2023, representing a 1.2 times increase. The most expensive imports were from India, Turkey, and Russia. These numbers reflect a dynamic shift in Kyrgyzstan's pharmaceutical sector, emphasizing the country's growing demand and changing trade partnerships.
