Buying your medication online is very convenient, but we have to be careful. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) found that: 💭Around 95% of websites selling prescription drugs might not be operating legally. Some online pharmacies could be scams, which is why it’s good to stay informed. Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind before making a purchase: 1. Know Your Seller Always check the seller's physical address and licensing status. A quick search can reveal negative reviews. 2. Shop Licensed U.S. Pharmacies Only Ensure the pharmacy requires a prescription and has licensed pharmacists available. Avoid sites that don't meet these standards, as they may sell counterfeit or expired products. 3. Trust Reputable Sources Rely on government (.gov) and nonprofit (.org) websites for reliable health information. 4. Watch for Fraud If a deal seems too good to be true, it likely is. Protect your personal information and report any suspicious activity. 5. Look for the LumiRx Heart. We embed NFC tags in product packaging so consumers can easily authenticate their medications with a tap of their phones, and make sure they’re receiving genuine products. Our system helps pharmacies reassure customers, minimize counterfeiting, and track inventory in real-time, while our app detects tampering to keep medications safe. Let us prioritize safety. Potential public health risk among individuals ordering counterfeit prescription medications from online pharmacies Ordering from online pharmacies comes with a risk of receiving unapproved or counterfeit medications that could result in harm to the user, CDC is warning. The overwhelming majority of websites advertising prescription-only drugs — almost 95%, according to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy — are not legitimate pharmacies. Based on recent law enforcement activity, these operations draw in customers by offering deep discounts and waiving the requirement for a prescription. However, regulatory and law enforcement agencies say they are actually selling sham products that often contain fentanyl, a potent man-made opioid that puts users at risk for overdose. Consumers who have patronized an internet-based pharmacy should check for the business under FDA's tool for finding state-licensed online pharmacies. They are also advised not to take and to safely dispose of any suspected counterfeit medications and call 911 in the event of a poisoning emergency. https://lnkd.in/guV-PdqR
