Another impactful stride made by Arise Centre is empowering vulnerable women and youth through employment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sector. Did you know that the tourism and hospitality sectors have been pivotal in driving global economic growth, generating one in four new jobs worldwide in the past five years? Shockingly, over one-fifth of young people globally face barriers to education, employment, or training, putting them at high risk of poverty and exploitation. This is where Arise Centre steps in. Through tailored training programs focusing on skill development, entrepreneurship, leadership, and career progression, we have been able to provide hope for those in need. For the past two years, our dedication to supporting women and men from disadvantaged backgrounds has been unwavering. By collaborating with local technical vocational training centres, we have facilitated access to training and practical experience in the hospitality industry, paving the way for long-term and credible career opportunities. How do we make this happen? It's our commitment to offering employability programs that provide a pathway to a brighter future for individuals coming through our centre, particularly those vulnerable to poverty and exploitation. Together, we continue to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. #handsonskills #handshakenothandout #skillsdevelopment #communityempowerement #sustainableeducation

Reflecting on the journey, it strikes me how travel, often the only escape from the relentless pace of work for me, becomes a mirror, reflecting the true essence of our pursuits at Boundless Consulting. It's during these fleeting moments of tranquility that the core of our mission resurfaces, compelling me to question, "Are we truly making a difference? Are we leaving an indelible mark on the daunting landscape of youth unemployment, crafting pathways to not just jobs, but careers?" As we step into the fourth month of the year, it's heartening to see the fruits of our collective efforts. Thanks to our dedicated partners and the unwavering support of our sponsors, we've managed to usher over 500 young unemployed individuals into YES programs via our accredited IP partners, with a significant 85% finding their place within the Hospitality and Tourism sectors. Furthermore, 200 eager learners have embarked on ICT accredited learnerships and skills programs through our academy, Boundless Academy, with our absorption rate—a metric of youth transitioning into permanent employment—standing at a commendable 37% thus far. This year, we set our sights high, aiming to facilitate the placement of over 2000 unemployed youths across three critical sectors we operate in: Hospitality and Tourism, ICT, and the burgeoning Green Economy. This ambitious plan includes enrolling 1000 youths into accredited ICT qualifications, with a hopeful eye on a 50% absorption rate. Yet, in the grand tapestry of change, one might ponder, "Is this enough?" To this, I'm reminded of the poignant words of cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead, who said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." This quote resonates deeply, affirming our belief that every step, no matter how small, contributes to a larger journey towards transformative change. Our heartfelt gratitude extends to all our partners and corporate sponsors, including Knowles Husain Lindsay Inc , Nampak, Entelect, Mobicel South Africa, North-West University / Noordwes-Universiteit, Afrika Tikkun, youth@WORK, International Hotel School, and countless others. Your shared vision and commitment to making a meaningful impact are the bedrock of our achievements. Together, we're not just making a difference; we're sculpting a future brimming with hope, opportunity, and boundless possibilities. #YouthEmpowerment #SocialImpact #Gratitude #BoundlessJourney

Tackling Australia's Skills Shortage with Innovative Initiatives Despite low unemployment rates and a robust labour market, Australia faces a growing skills shortage, with recruitment difficulty sitting at 54% according to a February 2024 report by Jobs and Skills Australia. Addressing this challenge calls for a united approach involving vocational and higher education, industry stakeholders, and a streamlined migration system. However, the Great Place To Work Certified™ community in Australia is taking notable strides by engaging with underserved communities to bridge these workforce gaps and build future talent. Key Initiatives Include: Educational Outreach: Engaging with primary and high school students in underrepresented areas, including Indigenous and rural communities, and focusing on aspiration-building in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers. Empowerment Programs: Conducting well-being and leadership programs, particularly for girls and women in Indigenous communities. Apprenticeships and Traineeships: Offering school-based opportunities for First Nations students and at-risk youth, providing a pathway into in-demand industries. Inclusive Hiring: Actively recruiting individuals with disabilities, refugees, and older women seeking to re-enter the workforce, supported by job-readiness programs. These efforts by certified companies not only address critical skill gaps but also inspire a new generation to envision and achieve brighter futures, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable society. Simply put, the UK is NOT doing enough to drive #SocialMobility forward. In the Social Mobility Commission's new report, 'Innovation Generation', the commission digs into the primary challenges that have created the decline of social mobility in the UK over past few decades... The report focuses on two critical areas of focus: economy and geography. A stagnation in productivity has limited the growth of professional job opportunities in the country, meaning that only a select few are able to progress. (And those few tend to only be located in #London and the #Southeast) The report also explores #OpportunityForAll, and how partnerships are needed to open new pathways into professional organisations. While the report challenges the fact that government has placed too high an emphasis on using #University degrees as the primary mechanisms for social mobility, it also nods to the relative success of #Graduates in creating upward mobility for themselves. At Blackbullion, we believe that businesses MUST do more to continue to open these pathways to more students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds through #Scholarships. Looking forward to digging more deeply into the report, and hearing the thoughts of my fellow social mobility advocates: https://lnkd.in/eKcPetJG #policy #education #apprenticeships #LifelongLearning
