How does communication's effectiveness create or destroy value for your organisation? I have been a Pyramid Thinking Plus practitioner for 20 years and a trainer in the discipline for over 15 of those years. My experience of the disciple has confirmed to me that using Pyramid Thinking Plus structured logics really improves communications effectiveness. That can be for proposals, presentations, Board briefings and even important emails. The audience just says "Yes" more often.....and they are less bored because the communications are more concise! I have recently been looking at consultancy businesses and am in the process of creating a conceptual model of consulting as a system, and then using this to build a calculator to quantify the impact on the bottom line of improvements in communication's effectiveness. The outcome of this will be the subject of our next video release - if you are in consulting, or indeed any business services firm it should be relevant to you. If you want to make sure you don't miss it get in touch and I will send you a link to the video when we publish later this summer.

How can you improve stakeholder communication? Whether you're facilitating a meeting, building consensus, or delivering a presentation, effective communication is essential for individual and organizational success. Here are a few key things to keep in mind when communicating with stakeholders: - Understand their needs and goals - Respect cultural differences and sensitivities - Maintain a tone that is encouraging and positive - Be clear and concise with messaging regardless of the delivery medium used - Be aware of common communication challenges, such as diffusing negative emotions or conflict - Be prepared to recalibrate your message based on feedback you are receiving. By understanding and utilizing effective communication techniques, you can set yourself up for success in any situation. Keeping this top of mind during planning can help ensure that your communication with stakeholders is effective and supports your effort to keep the message positive for everyone involved. During the creation of your communication strategy, give deliberate consideration to the role the following elements will play throughout your project's communication plan. #business #Stakeholder #Consultant #Strategy #Communication

I came across a game-changing framework recently, and it’s been a revelation in how I approach communication in consulting: the 1-3-1 framework. It’s simple, powerful, and incredibly effective for delivering clear, structured, and impactful messages—something every consultant strives for. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Start with the problem or key takeaway. This grabs attention and ensures alignment from the get-go. 3️⃣ Support with three logical arguments or insights. This keeps the narrative structured, data-driven, and concise. 1️⃣ Conclude with an actionable recommendation. This ties everything together and drives decisions forward. I’ve seen my managers and colleagues use this framework in email, meetings and presentations, and it’s incredible how effectively it aligns stakeholders and drives conversations toward actionable outcomes. When approached by a colleague on a case, I ask them what’s your 1-3-1 on this?

Watch this video lesson snapshot on "Communication Game Plan and Resource Asks" to address Nodding Along Syndrome. https://lnkd.in/gRrePqNx "Business Analysts tend to have a finely attuned radar that is alert to potential stakeholder issues. We might pick up on non-verbal cues—someone’s eyes gloss over as they are nodding for example—and adapt our approach accordingly. Seeing evidence of multi-tasking in a meeting (whether a virtual or real-world meeting) is another warning sign. If our stakeholders aren’t attentive, how can their ‘nods’ be interpreted as authentic and reliable? How can we be sure they know what they are agreeing to? They may well have inadvertently missed something crucial." https://lnkd.in/gNmJpUkt

Here's what C-suite Executives, Small Business Owners, and Corporate Leaders Often Get Wrong About Speaking in Front of Large Groups - customers, team members, investors, etc... They think they can "just wing it" because they're smart and have a nice personality. Which is incorrect. They also often believe that being knowledgeable or experienced in their business or industry is all that really matters. That’s incorrect as well. What really makes someone an influential communicator involves elements like storytelling, a clear through-line, confidence & presence, body language, and eye contact. These are a few factors that significantly influence whether your audience pays attention or completely zones out. If you just get head-nods of agreement, or if people leave with a clear call-to-action and desire to drive change. On Communications... #ManagementCommsTips Using Arguments From covering the basics, to managing your biases, choosing channels, and the role of reasoning in communications, every topic has bordered around one thing - planning your communication. The next step in planning your communication is understanding Arguments. Arguments in business communication are not "conflicts". Rather they have the underlying principle of debates. An argument is to reach a decision based on evidence. Evidence is information or data that helps you believe something is true. We build arguments by using facts and details to support a final point. A brief evidence statement that supports a final point (or decision) can be a perfect way of opening a presentation or a written communication. Knowing how to structure an argument is quite important for any decision maker in an organization. If you’re not a decision maker but you find yourself in a position that allows you to present a choice to a decision maker, this is for you. We'll consider a simple example in the next post.
