🌟 There's still time to donate and get your donation doubled as part of our Big Give festive appeal. This year we're raising funds to develop vital information and resources to help those struggling with legal and rights-based issues after postpartum psychosis (PP). Our 2023 Peer Support survey highlighted the difficulties people can experience after PP, such as: - regaining driving licences after recovery - problems at work, such as being treated differently, losing their job, feeling they had to leave their job, or changes in pay or conditions - accessing insurance - money advice and benefits entitlements - a lack of understanding of PP in our legal system These problems can make an already stressful time even harder for families, and right now, there’s no PP-specific advice available. We want to change that - and with your help, we can. 💜 Donate today and have your donation doubled at www.bit.ly/APPDec24 Thank you for helping to make a difference ✨

One year ago, Aghaz-e-Khayr was just an idea born from a simple yet profound conversation. A colleague and I were discussing the struggles faced by the middle class in Pakistan—the silent sufferers who often can’t ask for help, not because they don’t need it, but because society leaves them no room to. Back then, the purpose wasn’t to change the world. I knew I didn’t have the capacity for that. The goal was simple: to help one person. Just one. But something incredible happened. In trying to help that one person, we found a community. A community of people who believed in our vision, who were ready to stand beside us, and who turned that small beginning into something much larger than any of us imagined. ✨ In just one year: We’ve collectively solved over 200 cases, each one representing a life changed, a burden lifted, or a hope renewed. We’ve raised more than 4 million PKR, funds that have gone directly to people who needed it most. The stories we’ve encountered have been both heartbreaking and inspiring. From helping families with medical emergencies to covering educational expenses for bright students who couldn’t afford tuition, each case has been a reminder of the strength and resilience of our people. None of this would have been possible without our incredible community—those who donated, volunteered, and believed in the power of small acts of kindness. 💬 Our journey has just begun, and there’s still so much work to do. If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a difference, know that even the smallest effort counts. Because when we work together, one small beginning can create ripples of change far greater than we ever imagined. Thank you for being a part of our journey. Here’s to more stories of hope, one life at a time. 💙 Our instagram: https://lnkd.in/dW2hjTyw #AghazEKhayr #CommunityOfChange #SmallActsBigImpact #GivingBack #HopeInAction

There are many reasons a case might get closed on Lamplight. Maybe a client didn't attend a session or doesn't want to access the service anymore? Or maybe it was an accident, it happens! Whatever the reason, there's a really simple way to reopen a closed case should you need to. All you need to do it click the menu button of any record in the closed case and select 're open case'. It's as easy as that⭐ #charityworker #crmtoptip

"I’m Felisha. I’m a support worker at Withdrawal Management Services. From intakes to discharges, I do everything I can to help our participants from their first day in the door to their discharge. I assist them in completing applications for treatment, advocate on their behalf, ensure their safety, and provide them with a safe space in tough times. I help them explore resources, and because of my lived experience, I know which avenues are best suited to their unique circumstance. I love watching the participants evolve during their stay with us. When I share with them that I have used MSP's services more than once, they are hopeful that they, too, can manage their issues with substance in a healthy way. There's a particular understanding between us that adds a special purpose to my role. I can bring a certain compassion and empathy to it because I know what it feels like to be in their shoes. I love sharing my experience, strength and hope with our participants. I love spreading positive energy around the unit because that energy is much needed here, not only for our participants but also for our staff! As a former participant, I know how significant our work here is. We have the opportunity to help these individuals heal and go on to live meaningful lives. A lot goes into servicing the participants, and it’s astounding just how far our support staff will go to help each individual. Some days are tough. We often encounter situations where we can't provide the resources our participants need. Sometimes participants leave the program before their expected date. I have learned not to take things personally. We must have compassion and understand that progress is rarely linear." ⌛Only 8 days left to contribute to the transformative work we do through our front-line programs! Help us reach our fundraising goal and play a part in supporting the community. ❤️ Donate to Into the Cold today: https://ow.ly/ybYP50QZSYz #MSPBuildingStability #Winnipeg #Manitoba

#KinshipCareWeek (7–13 October) is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible role that kinship carers play in children’s lives and society. Anyone at any time could become a kinship carer i.e. stepping up to raise the child of a family member or friend. Kinship is a charity that provides support for kinship carers. And we are very proud to be their digital partner for their recent website redesign project. One of the new pages on the website is the ‘In your area’ search page where kinship carers can find help and support locally. Have a look: https://lnkd.in/gWv6FsbB It's not easy taking on a child who has had a difficult start in life when you are not prepared for it. Kinship families and the many challenges they face go unrecognised. Solicitor (Non Practising) Supports Tech Property Transport infrastructure (“TPTi”) Social Entrepreneurs ⭕️ Trustee & Honorary Treasurer Gresham Benevolent Fund E : [email protected] M: 077659 77318
Really good practical post from Andrew as always. Under the heading Practical Support : homelessness & biodiversity? I’m pleased to say that at Gresham Benevolent Fund we are supporting Crisis Changing Lives programme and personally I really like the fact that in the previous Parliament Crisis provided Secretariat services for the All Party Parliamentary Group on Homelessness. Hopefully it will do so again when the new Parliamentary term starts in early September. I was speaking with Connections at St Martins in the field. They said that the most requested items from their clients were mobile phones & laptops. These days once you have shelter; food ; medical support and the necessary IT skills you can with like mindeds set up your own Solo or Micro (1-11 employee) business or Social Enterprise with a mobile & access to a laptop and support from sympathetic Mentors like Andrew. There are 136,000 young (16-24 year old ) homeless that New Horizon are trying to help with a National Stratrgy plus an unknown number of hidden young underinvested. A real talent pool potentially. Update “ give a person a fish and they’ll eat for a day ; teach a person how to fish and they’ll eat for life”- ( which doesn’t really work these days when we poison our rivers and streams with effluent and the Midland Canals with a form of cyanide used in metal cleaning which kills the fishes🐟 !!) by giving the 136,000 phones and laptops and perhaps they could become our next generation of ….. ……Environmental Protectors.???!!! After all to be homeless in UK plc as Anthony says you have to be pretty streetwise. A task force of Name & Shame environmentalists protecting our “ Sceptrd Isle” might have a number of benefits. Whilst 32 wars rage around the globe causing massive environmental damage perhaps the Young Underinvested could be our eyes 👀 & ears 👂to ensure UK 🇬🇧 plc really does move towards Net Zero : not just “ wash ourselves in Green” After all .., “ there is no Planet 🌍 “B” T https://lnkd.in/eg33cJKh.

Judging from the last post, people want to know what to donate to people experiencing homelessness. So I made it into a basic pdf for you. Please download, enjoy, share, email out, whatever helps - anyone can donate, even if you don't have much money. It's just about thinking what people might need, and then adapting to it. Please do share it out, repost it out to your networks; would be amazing to have resources like this out there so people can be prepared the next time they encounter a rough sleeper. It could make their day. It might even save their lives. #homelessness #whattodonatetothehomeless #homelessnesshelp
